Grandparents Day! Friday, May 13th 8:30-10:30

Grandparents day is an event held by the Julian Curtiss PTA. Grandparents can arrive to the school at 8:30 am. There will be breakfast served and a lovely performance from the school choir in the gym/auditorium. Afterwards they will be joining their grandchild in their classrooms. In our class, the grandparents will get to play and do a craft with their grandchild.

Please let me know if your child's grandparent will be attending.

Name Folders!

Each day we work on writing and spelling our names. Following the CT ELDS of language and literacy by learning print concepts of recognizing and identifying some printed letters. The children are saying the letters of their name by tapping, tracing, and matching the letters. Then they use an expo marker and write their name.

Mathematics & Sciences

We played a game of matching the bird items. When playing a visual memory game like "match" it involved and the identification of patterns and relationships and similarity and difference help children to learn about early representation and problem solving. Matching and sorting activities can also be good for developing fine motor skills. Following the CT ELDS of children using logic and reasoning to identify the differences between objects across multiple characteristics.

Friday Folders

Each child has a Friday Folder. At the end of each week I will send home a green folder with any school news or classroom work your child did. Please empty the folders and return them back to school on Monday. It helps if you supply a backpack for your child, we send home larger art projects too.
