The Weekly Update #4
September 28th, 2026
In Our House - Administrator's Message
As we welcome October, there is something unique about the rhythm of a school year that has taken shape. The excitement of returning to school settles into routines, relationships grow stronger, and our classrooms begin to feel more and more like places where children belong, wonder, discover, and learn.
The first weeks of school are filled with new beginnings. Students are learning new expectations, making new friendships, discovering their strengths, and finding their place within our school community. Our Staff are getting to know their Students, building connections and creating the conditions for meaningful learning and assessing. These things are absolutely worth the time :)
October reminds us that growth rarely happens all at once. It happens in small moments: a child taking a risk and trying something new, a Student persevering through something difficult, a friend offering encouragement, or an adult noticing a kiddo who simply needs someone to believe in them. As a school community, we have an important role in creating and sharing those moments.
Thank you to our Teachers, Support Staff, Families, and Students for the energy, patience, kindness, and care you bring to our school each day. Schools are at their best when we work together, celebrate one another, and remember that every child deserves to feel known, valued, and capable.
This month, I encourage all of us to notice the small victories. Celebrate the progress that might otherwise go unnoticed. Take time to appreciate the people around you. And remember that sometimes the most meaningful impact we have is found in the simple things—a kind word, a listening ear, an encouraging smile, or the decision to try one more time.
May October be a month of curiosity, connection, courage, and continued growth. Thank you to you all for being such a positive and important part of our school community.
Health and Wellness everyone!

Remembrance Day
Dear JSS Families,
For our Remembrance Day assembly we would like to honour loved ones in our lives who have
served in the Army, Navy or Air Force, etc.. We are asking for you to please send a picture,
along with the person’s name, rank and how they are related to your child(ren) by Friday, October
23rd, 2026. If you could also indicate what grade/class your child is in that would be great! You
can send your pictures by emailing them to kradchenko@brsd.ab.ca or send a hard copy, which will
be returned to you after the assembly. We will be showing a powerpoint presentation of our loved
ones during our Remembrance Day ceremony.
If you have sent pictures in previous years, you do not need to send those as I have them saved.
Thanks,
Mrs. K. Radchenko

Able Seaman Wendell Campbell

The land on which we gather, traditionally known as Asiniskaw Sipisis (Stoney Creek), is
Treaty 6 Territory (traditional meeting ground for many Indigenous peoples). The land
provided a traveling route and home to the Maskwacis Nêhiyawak, Nakoda, Tsuut’ina
Nations, the Métis, and other Indigenous peoples. Their spiritual and practical relationships
to the land create a rich heritage for our learning and our life.
Custodial Staff Appreciation Day
Friday October 2 is Custodial Staff Appreciation Day. Thank you to Lui and his crew for all their hard work. It is much appreciated.
