26/27 School Year Newsletter
Brief Message From the Principal
We have now completed the 1st Quarter of the school year, and with that, it is hard to believe that 1/4 of the school year is over! As our fall activities are winding down, you'll find LOADS of pictures over the past couple of weeks that highlight so many great events that showcase just how busy our students and staff are!
As we move ahead into the 2nd Quarter, we will gear up for winter activities as well as wrapping up the first semester. With cooler weather on the way, be sure students are dressing for the elements and making time to rejuvenate between the fall and winter activities.
Enjoy!
Mrs. Hostetler

😎 Project Wisdom Messages
October: Making a Difference --Assembly is Wednesday, October 28th at 9:00 a.m.
What is Project Wisdom? Project Wisdom is a character education program where daily messages are broadcast every morning with an overall monthly theme.
Some quotes/thoughts for this week:
- The word virtue is one of those words that isn't talked about very much. It is a quality we can always increase in the world. Virtue means honesty and goodness. Thomas Paine, American patriot and writer, once said: "We should remember that virtue is not hereditary."
- In other words, he doesn't believe we inherit virtue from our parents, but that we learn to be good by examining the lives of good and decent people. That's very important because a world without virtue is a world filled with dishonesty and unfairness.
- When I ask you to name a genius, who comes to mind? Most of you would say Albert Einstein, one of the world's most famous geniuses. Now listen to what he has to say to us today: "Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value."
- We are all valuable as human beings. Each one of us has something valuable to contribute to the world. And it's perfectly wonderful to want to be a success in life, but what Mr. Einstein probably means is this: If you focus on your value as a person and the value of what you can contribute to the world, it will naturally lead to a more successful life.Today, make a mental list of all your valuable qualities, then remember to value yourself and others.
- It's time for Halloween and tricks and treats and things that go bump in the night. It's a time when some people pretend that witches and goblins come out to play. Maybe we should take advantage of this scary celebration and face a few of those fears that have been hiding in our closets, like a fear of asking questions in class or a fear of taking tests.
- Listen to these thoughts about fear from Dr. Herbert Frankenstein. Oops! I meant Dr. Herbert Fensterheim : "The question is not whether you are frightened or not, but whether you or fear is in control ... .The correct thing to tell yourself is, 'If I do get frightened, I will stay in command.'"
- Next time you find yourself afraid to speak up in class, afraid to take a test, or afraid to ask for something you need, ask yourself who's in control, you or that old goblin Fear? Then tell yourself to take command.

STUDENT LIFE
📆 Upcoming Events
💡 Reminders
- Students are required to attend AAP when they are failing ONE or MORE classes.
- Chromebooks MUST be kept inside their school-issued cases!
Concussion Protocols
Schools follow strict concussion protocols to protect students’ health and safety. Any student suspected of having a concussion is immediately removed from play or activity and evaluated by a qualified professional. Return-to-play or return-to-learn steps are gradual and closely monitored, ensuring students recover fully before resuming normal activities. These protocols help prevent long-term injury and promote a safe learning and athletic environment.
Punctuality
Make Every Minute Count
With the start of a new quarter, tardy counts also start over. Students are allowed four tardies before they are issued a consequence. At the 5th tardy, 1.0 hour of detention is assigned. For every tardy that follows, another 1.5 hour of detention is assigned. Students can look at their tardy counts when looking in PowerSchool at their grades. Parents can also view their child/children's tardies in the same fashion, and they can set alerts via PowerSchool to notify them when their child is tardy.
