From the Principal - A Season of Gratitude and Growth From the Principal - A Season of Gratitude and Growth

Hello Riverview Families,

As November continues, we are keeping our focus on gratitude, not just as a feeling, but as a practice we can share with our children every day. One simple way to do this is by noticing and celebrating the small things: a kind word from a friend, a teacher’s encouragement, or a moment of teamwork in the classroom.

At Riverview, gratitude is all around us, in the laughter of students, the dedication of our staff, and the support of families like you. When we pause to appreciate these moments, we help our children see the good in their world and develop hearts full of thankfulness.

Thank you for continuing to be part of the Riverview community and for helping us nurture a culture of gratitude in every corner of our school.

With appreciation,

Dr. Urban
Riverview Principal

Weekly Shoutouts-A BIG thank you to our nurses! Weekly Shoutouts-A BIG thank you to our nurses!

This week, we are celebrating our AMAZING nurses!

We are so grateful for Nurse Jill and Nurse Nancy, who care for our students and staff every single day. From tending to scrapes and sniffles to supporting students with health concerns, they do it all with compassion, expertise, and a kind smile.

Our nurses help keep Riverview a safe, healthy, and happy place to learn and grow. Whether it’s handling a quick check-up, managing medical needs, or simply offering comfort to a student who isn’t feeling well, their dedication makes a huge difference in our school community.

Thank you, Nurse Jill and Nurse Nancy, for everything you do to support our students, staff, and families. Riverview is lucky to have you both!

Parent Tip of the Week: ALIGN – Connecting School and Home

At Riverview, we know that students thrive when learning at school and support at home are aligned. When families and teachers share expectations, routines, and goals, students feel more confident, focused, and supported in their learning.

How Families Can Help This Week:
Talk with your child about what they are learning at school and set a simple goal together that aligns with what their teacher is working on in class. For example, if your child is practicing reading strategies, spend 10 minutes reviewing or discussing a book together. Consistent routines and shared expectations at home help reinforce what is happening at school, creating a strong connection that supports learning and growth.

Reminder for Car Loop Parents Reminder for Car Loop Parents

To help our dismissal process run smoothly, please place your child’s name in the window of your car every day at dismissal. Even if your child’s teacher or staff member knows your car, having the name visible helps anyone filling in, quickly and safely match students with their rides.

Thank you for helping us keep car loop safe and efficient!

Tips to Stay Healthy as Sickness Increases

Dear Families,

As we see an increase in illnesses, including GI issues, here are some important reminders to help keep our students healthy:

Wash Hands Often

  • Frequent handwashing is one of the best ways to prevent the spread of germs.

Keep Your Child Home If:

  • They have a fever of 100.0°F or higher

  • They are experiencing vomiting or diarrhea

  • They have not been symptom-free for a full 24 hours without the aid of fever-reducing medication

Stay Home Until:

Your child has been symptom-free for at least 24 hours. This helps protect their classmates and school staff from illness.

Fall Weather Reminder Fall Weather Reminder

Fall weather is finally here and as we all know, it can be a bit unpredictable! Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately and prepared for arrival, dismissal, and outdoor recess. As temperatures drop, they may want to keep a sweatshirt at school in case their classroom feels chilly.

It’s also a great time to label coats, hats, and gloves, and remind students to check the Lost & Found if anything has gone missing. Staying prepared helps everyone stay comfortable and ready to enjoy the day!

Attendance & Punctuality Reminders Attendance & Punctuality Reminders

  • Our doors open for students at 8:30 AM, and classroom instruction begins promptly at 8:45 AM.
  • Please help remind your child to be in their seat and ready to learn by 8:45—every minute counts, and there is so much exciting learning to be done each day!
  • If your child will be absent, please notify both the office and their classroom teacher. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals help set students up for success.

Connect, Align, Grow Connect, Align, Grow

At Riverview, our Connect, Align, and Grow goals aren’t just for school, they thrive when our whole community is part of the journey.

  • Connect: Building strong, trusting relationships between students, staff, and families helps every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.

  • Align: Working together—home, school, and community, means students hear consistent messages and expectations wherever they go.

  • Grow: When we nurture curiosity, resilience, and responsibility, students become confident learners and caring citizens who make a difference in our community.

Each week, we’ll share a simple way you can support these goals at home and in the community.

Spotlight on Character: Gratitude

At-Home Tip: Each morning, take a moment with your child to name one thing you are thankful for before starting your day. It can be something big or small—like family, pets, or even a sunny day!

Nurse Information Nurse Information

We have wonderful nurses available in our front office, so please feel free to call or stop by if you need to:

  • Drop off medications or medication orders

  • Inform us of any new health conditions

  • Provide updated immunization records (especially if your child is new to Riverview)

  • Submit a physical exam form (required if your child is attending a Kansas school for the first time and is 8 years old or younger)

We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills—especially during lunch—are common, and we may not always have extra clothing in the right size.

If you prefer, you may also email our nurses directly:

Visitor Management System Visitor Management System

Student and staff safety is always our top priority. Riverview will continue using the Centegix Visitor Management System this year, following district safety guidelines. All visitors must check in through the office with a valid photo ID. The ID will be scanned into the system and a visitor sticker with your photo will be printed. This sticker must be worn and visible at all times while in the building.

For the safety of everyone, no visitor will be allowed in the building without a valid ID. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to maintain a secure learning environment for our Falcons.

Arrival/Dismissal Arrival/Dismissal

Car Loop Reminder

Please remember to have your student’s name clearly displayed during car loop pick-up. Since staff members rotate and substitutes occasionally cover, having names visible before you pull up to the cones helps us quickly identify students and ensure they are ready when you arrive. This small step keeps the process running smoothly and efficiently for everyone. Thank you for helping us keep the process safe, smooth, and speedy for everyone!

Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table! Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table!

For your convenience, we have a Drop-Off Table located just inside the front doors. If your student forgot something, like their lunch, instrument, glasses, or any other classroom item, you can simply buzz in, drop it off, and be on your way. No need to sign in or go through the visitor management system. Just remember to write your student’s name on the sticky notes provided so we can make sure it gets to them quickly.

Thank you for helping keep our drop-offs smooth and efficient!

At Riverview we are very safety conscious. Please see the map below for specific arrival/dismissal details.
