Greenwood Elementary School
WE ARE ALL ABOUT K.I.D.S.
March 2026
Hello Greenwood Families,
It is hard to believe that March is here and spring is on its way. Don't forget to spring forward this upcoming weekend. February was filled with fun activities and March has so much to offer. Please be sure to check out the "Looking Ahead" portion of this newsletter, as there is a lot in store.
March Is Literacy Month
March is one of my favorite times of the year. We get to celebrate literacy! As a school we have our literacy calendar. It gives fun and easy activities you can complete as a family at home. For the month of March all K-3 students will be reading "Stink & the Incredible Super-Galactic Jawbreaker". There is a reading guide and links to hear the story read below. It should take no more than 10 mins each chapter.
K-3 will be in competition, as we will have weekly Kahoot assemblies focusing on comprehension of the book. Have fun reading!
March SEL Focus
Last month our school focused on social awareness. We encouraged students to think of how others felt and to show patience, kindness, and understanding when interacting with their peers. For the month of March we are focusing in on responsible decision making. We are sharing skills that help us slow down and think. Feel free to talk about this with your child and share strategies, as I have shared with them that this is something they will have to do their whole lives.
PEEP & Kindergarten Orientation
It is that time. Peep and Kindergarten Orientation is this Wednesday, March 4th 9:30am & 5:30pm. This is district wide and gives families an opportunity to visit sites.
Yearbooks
This year has been filled with memories and we are still making them! This is why you should purchase your yearbook today! You can visit ybpay.lifetouch.com and enter our school code 14986826 to get yours. The purchase deadline is April 10th.

Attendance Matters
Any changes to your child's regular dismissal plans should be
communicated to the office no later than 3:00pm.
The attendance procedures are designed for all students. Good attendance will help students do well in school, college, and at work. It does not matter if absences are excused or unexcused, they all represent lost time in the classroom and lost opportunity to learn. Too many absent students can impact the whole classroom. Show your child that attendance matters to you and that you will not allow an absence, unless someone is truly sick.
Tardy students must be signed in at the office and receive a tardy pass before entering class.
