Supporting digital learning at home
This week, please explore the final video in our series by clicking here or below, which explains how you can support digital learning at home while also sticking to your own principles on screen time. You can also click here to explore a parent handbook that also answers frequent questions on our One-to-One iPad Program. Maple Grandparents' Night is Oct. 7
For families of 5th graders
Maple welcomes families who will join middle school next year to its annual Grandparents Night, happening October 7 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Maple LMC.
They are excited to welcome Ada Cheng, Illinois Humanities Road Scholar, as the featured speaker. Ada is an award-winning educator and storyteller who uses storytelling to build understanding, create community, and uplift diverse voices. Her presentation will focus on the power of intergenerational storytelling, the importance of sharing our own stories, and how stories help young people develop a sense of self, identity, and belonging.
The evening will also include a Student Q&A panel and an opportunity for guests to tour Maple School.
While this event is designed to engage and honor grandparents and those who fill that role in students’ lives, all family members are welcome to attend together.
Please click here to RSVP so we can anticipate numbers! We look forward to celebrating this meaningful connection with you!
Ada Cheng’s presentation is made possible in part through sponsorship from Illinois Humanities.

Please turn in Parents as Partners form
This feedback prepares for Parent-Teacher Conferences
Our first Parent-Teacher Conferences of the year are October 14 and 15 and will focus on “planning for success.”
Conferences are a collaborative process between parents/guardians and classroom teacher. The Parents as Partners questionnaire can inform the goal setting process alongside other information collected in the fall.
In order to make the process meaningful and productive, we request that you complete the Parents as Partners 2026-27 form:
Log into Parent Portal
Click Forms in the left navigation menu
Click on the General Tab, click on “Parents as Partners 2026-27” form
This information will help your child’s teacher better plan for your child’s success. Goals (academic and/or social) will be set together, keeping your child’s individual needs in mind.

April 2027 elections for Board of Education
File nominating petitions Nov. 16-23
Northbrook/Glenview School District 30 will have four school board seats to be filled at the Consolidated Election on April 6, 2027. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2031.
Candidates for the office of the school board can begin circulating nominating petitions for signatures. The period for filing nominating petitions runs from November 16-23, 2026.
A candidate for the school board is required to file the nominating petitions, Statement of Candidacy, and receipt for filing their Statement of Economic Interests with the applicable county election clerk and not with the school board secretary or the administrative offices of the school district. The county clerk may have petition forms available, or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website.
Candidates may also want to consult the “2027 Candidate’s Guide,” which can be downloaded from the Illinois State Board of Elections website, or contact the county clerk or board of election commissioners regarding the requirements of filing. Candidates and voters can get information about District 30 from our website and learn about being a school board member from the Illinois Association of School Boards at: iasb.com/elections.
Candidates who are interested in seeking endorsement from the District 30 School Board Caucus should contact Katie Schick (kateschick0609@gmail.com) by Friday, October 16. The School Board Caucus is a committee of District 30 residents that includes families both with and without children enrolled in Willowbrook, Wescott and Maple schools. The Caucus' role is to source, screen and endorse potential school board candidates. To be considered by the Caucus, candidates will need to complete a detailed application as well as an interview. If you are interested in learning more about joining the Caucus, please contact Katie.
