September 2025
Welcome Back, Students and Families!
The first week of school is officially behind us, and what an exciting start it has been! Walking through the halls and classrooms, it’s clear that our students are eager to learn, collaborate, and grow in both their academic and technical pathways.
This first month is all about building strong routines, setting goals, and embracing the opportunities that lie ahead. Whether it’s diving into new coursework, meeting teachers and peers, or exploring the hands-on experiences our technical programs offer, we are thrilled to see students already demonstrating curiosity, creativity, and commitment.
As we move forward, let’s keep up the positive momentum. Together—students, staff, and families—we’ll make this school year one of growth, discovery, and success.
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Vaping Expectations
CCPS strictly prohibits the possession or use of vapes, e-cigarettes, or related products on school property, buses, or at school events. Please be reminded that CCTC vape detectors are continuously operational in bathrooms.
Consequences:

- 2nd Offense: Parent conference, referral to Cessation Program, confiscation, 3 days ISS
- 3rd Offense (or more): Parent conference, referral to Cessation Program, confiscation, 3 days ISS
THC or CBD Vapes / Drugs

- 3rd Offense or Distribution: 10 days OSS, referral to Cessation Program, referral to DLSST, notification of law enforcement
Our Commitment
We are dedicated to keeping CCTC a safe, healthy, and supportive environment. Families, we ask for your partnership in reinforcing these expectations and discussing the risks of vaping with your student.
Cell Phone, Head Phones, and Ear Buds
No cell phones or head phones/ear buds allowed out or on the students desk from bell to bell during every class. Students can use their cell phones between classes and during lunch.
Disciplinary responses if not followed:
1st instance- warning/put away
2nd instance- phone held till end of day, parent contact
3rd instance - phone held till end of day, parent conference, possible ban from school for 30 school days.
*at any time if the student becomes disrespectful/disruptive, the consequence for the more severe behavior will drive the response.
Communication: Rooms
To keep you informed and involved, we’re continuing to use Rooms, our two-way communication tool that helps you stay connected with your child’s teachers and school staff.
And this year, Rooms has improved some of their features:
● SMS Text Notifications
You’ll now receive text message notifications whenever a new message or announcement is sent in Rooms. Each text includes a direct link to view the content in your mobile browser or in the app.
→ Click here to learn how to set your notification preferences.
● One Messaging Inbox
Our school app has been updated to give you one, single place to see all of your messages across all children. From this inbox, you can read, reply, or start new messages. This feature is available through the CCPS App, available in the App Store and Google Play.
● Upgraded Messaging Features
Our messaging experience now lets you react to messages with emojis, respond in threads, send photos and videos, mute group messages, and more!
Check out this overview of the new experience, or watch this short video (video in Spanish or click on Haitian Creole) to learn more about what’s new for this year.
We’re here to help make communication simpler, more consistent, and easier to manage this year! Please let us know if you have any questions.
Parking Permits
Parking lot checks will begin this week. Any vehicle without a permit or parked in the wrong location will receive one warning before additional actions.
In order to purchase a parking permit, a student must meet these requirements, no exceptions:
- have a valid provisional driver's license
- no obligations
- have the minimum amount of service learning hours required (60 for juniors, 75 for seniors)
Upon purchase, the student must provide the following materials:
- valid provisional driver's license
- insurance information
- registration information
- $50.00 cash or check
Copies of the insurance, registration, and the student's license will be made upon purchase and the originals will be returned to the student.
Upon purchasing a CCTC parking permit for the 2025-2026 school year, students must sign a rules and regulations agreement sheet. Students and parents/guardians should read this sheet carefully before signing. All rules and regulations must be followed at all times or the student's parking permit may be suspended or revoked at the discretion of the administration.
One of the most important rules for having a parking permit is your attendance. The state of Maryland considers 18 missed school days as chronically absent. Once a student reaches 10 days of being absent, lawful or unlawful, administration will meet with them and their parking permit may be revoked.
Students with a CCTC parking permit may NOT park at NCHS. If a student wishes to have a NCHS parking permit, they must reach out to NCHS office staff for more information. See map below for location of CCTC student approved parking.
Student's may not purchase permits for other students and previous years permits are NOT valid for the 2025-2026 school year. Students who wish to drive to school must purchase a new parking permit for the 2025-2026 school year. Parking permits are valid for the entire school year.
Parking permits are sold on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE basis. No parking permits will be put on hold for any reason. No exceptions.
