Principal's Note
Welcome Back to the 2026-2027 School Year!
Dear MES Families,
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to another wonderful school year. This will be my third year leading Marysville Elementary, and I am deeply moved by the trust and partnership you have extended to our school community. Together, we have set a solid foundation, and now we turn our attention to lighting the path forward for every student that walks the halls of Marysville Elementary School.
Our shared purpose shall remain the forefront of our minds: each child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Over the coming months we will:
- Provide high‑quality instruction that challenges each student academically while honoring their unique strengths and needs.
- Nurture social‑emotional wellbeing so that every child feels safe, valued, and ready to take on new challenges.
- Celebrate the journey of each student; we hope to fill their journeys with curiosity, confidence, and achievement.
Family engagement is the heart of our success. When families and school work hand‑in‑hand, students truly thrive. Thank you for taking the time to attend our Open House—your presence made the event a huge success, and we loved seeing all of you and introducing you to the wonderful teachers who will guide your children this year.
Throughout the year you will hear about many ways to stay connected: family events, volunteer opportunities with our wonderful parent/teacher organization, classroom newsletters, and regular check‑ins with teachers. Your voice, ideas, and involvement are essential, and we look forward to partnering with you every step of the way.

Hours
Morning Preschool Hours: 8:00 AM - 11:15 AM Arrival time 7:45 AM - 8:00 AM
Afternoon Preschool Hours: 12:15 PM - 3:20 PM Arrival from 12:00 PM - 12:15 PM
Arrival and Dismissal
Preschoolers arriving between 7:30 and 7:45 will meet in the cafeteria for supervision until they can enter their classrooms at 7:45. Any preschoolers arriving after 7:45, can go directly to their preschool classrooms from the front gate area. If preschool students are eating breakfast (with an older sibling), they can, beginning at 7:30 AM.
Preschool Parents (Mid-Morning/Day Pick-Up & Drop-Off): Please do NOT park in the bus lane and walk up to wait for your child or to drop them off. Adult supervisors from the school will walk out with your child so you can meet them and walk to your vehicles. At afternoon session drop out, you may drop off students in the bus lane, but for a brief time as our staff welcomes them to their classrooms using the gated area. If you do plan to come up to wait with your child, please park in one of the designated parking stalls located around the school, not the bus lane or in front of the gate on the west side. This is a crosswalk and per city ordinance, it is illegal to park there.
Afternoon preschool students will be released on the WEST side of the building for pickup from parents/guardians.
“Bright New Steps: Epoxy Floors, Gym Mats, & Improved Entrance!”
Our school’s entrance, cafeteria, gym & stairway just got a makeover this summer! Slip‑resistant epoxy flooring, a cushioned gym mat, energy‑saving LED lights on the front entrance stairs, and improved concrete drainage at a drop-off zone to stop water from pooling where children walk and cars idle . Safer, cleaner, and brighter spaces mean more focus, better health, and a stronger sense of pride—fueling every student’s growth and success.
Updated our lights on the entrance stairs!
Updates to our flooring in our cafeteria, entrance, and front office area!
Added a new wall mat in the gym!
26-27 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK
26-27 MES Parent Handbook
Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.
We ask that families review the handbook prior to the first day of school so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.
New Kansas Cell Phone Law & Two Way Communication
House Bill 2299 (2026) – Kansas law requires every public school district to prohibit personal electronic devices that can make calls, send texts, or access the internet from being worn or carried by K‑12 students during the instructional day. The infographic below shows how this impacts students at Marysville Elementary School.
