The Sheiko Weekly Update
Sheiko Elementary: January 31, 2025

PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Dear Sheiko Families,
We are so proud of our amazing Sheiko students for doing such a fantastic job on the MSTEP this week! Their hard work, focus, and perseverance truly shined. A big thank you to our families for your continued support—especially those who helped make our 5th grade field trip to the African American History Museum such a meaningful experience.
As always, please remember that we are here for you. Whether you need support with field trips, access to resources like Easter Seals, are interested in our male mentoring program for grades 3–5, or want to connect with Ms. Garner, our Student Success Liaison, who runs groups to support student well-being—we are here to partner with you. If you ever have questions about your child’s behavior or disciplinary record, don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. I’m always happy to help.
This week’s Big Announcements:
April 24: Our 4th graders are headed to the Ford Rouge Factory for an exciting field trip!
April 25: Get ready to dance! Our PTO is sponsoring the Spring Fling—we can’t wait to see you at this fun-filled family event.
Have a wonderful weekend, and as always—Goooooooooo Lakers!
Warm Regards,
Blaine McDowell, Principal

FAMILY SURVEY
Dear Families of the West Bloomfield School District,
Helping students do their best in school requires a team effort. Parents, students and school staff all play important roles in this process. To help all of us learn how to make your child's schooling experience as positive and beneficial as possible, we are asking parents and guardians to give us their honest, thoughtful responses.
The survey will be open until April 11. Click here for the parent/guardian survey. If you have multiple children please complete one survey per child.

SCIENCE IN ACTION!
Third graders at Sheiko are planting lettuce for students to eat during lunch! Stay tuned! In two weeks, students will be transferring the plants and then harvesting the lettuce! We love having science in action!

SAVE THE DATES
Field Day is Friday May 23rd — and it’s always one of the most fun and exciting days of the year for our students! It’s a day packed with games, laughter, teamwork, and memories they’ll be talking about all summer.
We’re sharing this early so parents have plenty of time to plan ahead and hopefully take time off work if needed. Field Day runs best with lots of helping hands, and we’ll need parent volunteers to help run stations and keep things moving smoothly.
If you’re able to volunteer — we’d love to have you join us and be part of the fun! Sign up via the sign up genius below!
Thank you!!
