A message from Vice Principal Mrs. Jawanda
Hello IS and VRA Families,
We are thrilled to see our campus construction making great progress! Our shade structure is near completion, and our student restrooms are officially finished with a fresh, clean look. Best of luck to our high school students taking the PSAT this week! As a reminder, we will hold a practice lockdown drill on Tuesday; our drop-off parking lot gate closes promptly at 8:35 AM, so if you arrive past that time, please bring your student to the main gate and buzz in. Lastly, Wednesday, October 21 is a Virtual Day with no in-person school for students.
On Friday, October 30, we will host our annual Halloween parade! All students are invited to participate by wearing their costumes to school. Parents who wish to attend and watch the parade are warmly welcomed, but please be sure to stop by the front office first to get a visitor ID badge. Please remember to bring a valid photo ID to present upon check-in.
Volunteer Requirement Update: To all our wonderful parent and guardian volunteers: a new mandate requires all volunteers (even if you are already registered with the school) to complete the short Mandated Reporter: Child Abuse and Neglect training video. Click here for step-by-step instructions: https://www.lodiusd.net/families/volunteer
As always, if you need to get a hold of anyone please contact the front office for VRA and IS at 209 331-8008.

VRA PTO presents: Fall Festival 2026
Whats happening at VRA
Adopt A Cow-STEAM
Our classroom is participating in the Adopt A Cow program. Through our STEAM unit, we have adopted a calf named Hazel from dairy farm in Fallon, Nevada. Hazel will stay on the farm with her farmer. Monthly updates, photos, and videos will help us learn about her growth, daily care, and where milk
comes from.
Our hands-on STEAM learning will include building and testing calf
shelters and feeders, using LEGO robots and simple block coding, planting
and measuring seedlings, and exploring dairy foods. Students will also
solve farm math problems, create art, and share their learning through
drawings, writing, and teamwork.

IS/VRA Visitor Policy
Dear Parents and Guardians,
To keep our students and staff safe, we kindly remind all visitors to follow our school check-in procedures. Whenever you are on campus grounds—whether you are walking your student to class after the morning bell, dropping off a lunch or assignment, or volunteering—you must check in at the front office first to receive a visitor’s name badge.
If you are on campus without a visible badge, our staff will direct you back to the front office. We deeply appreciate your partnership and cooperation in keeping our campus secure! Below you will find the LUSD policy on visitors.
BE PRESENT
The district has been working hard to enforce the "no phone zone" policy at every site and we want to ensure we are supporting as well. Please remind your students to put away their cell phones as they enter campus. We will kindly remind your student to put their phone away if they are seen however if they are seen again we will implement consequences.
