A Note from Mrs. Mathe
It’s been a wonderful start to December! Today we celebrated our HERO Award recipients—students who exemplify the character trait of being Warm-Hearted—along with our monthly HERO winners. Congratulations to all of our deserving honorees!
Next week is a busy and exciting one on campus:
Tuesday:
We will host our Kindergarten Open House from 5:30–6:00 PM. Kindergarten families, this is a fantastic opportunity to see the amazing work your children have been doing in class!
Wednesday:
Join us at Tropical Smoothie Café from 3:00–7:00 PM for our December Spirit Night. We hope to see many of you there supporting our school!
Thursday:
Our 3rd grade students are ready to dazzle you with their program, “The Holly Jolly Pirates of Pinataville.” 3rd Grade Open House begins at 5:15 PM in classrooms so families can get a glimpse of students’ hard work. At 5:45 PM, students will head to the gym while parents make their way to the café for the show.
Saturday:
We are excited to host our 3rd Annual Husky Hustle 1-mile fun run/walk! H-E-B and Starbucks will be joining us, and our amazing art teachers will have a craft station for families to enjoy. Families are invited to run or walk a mile around campus and enjoy a beautiful morning together. We hope to see you there!
Recognize a Staff Member with a TAE!

Student Spotlight
We are excited to introduce a new section in The Hines Herald called Student Spotlight! This feature will celebrate the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school. In this section, we will highlight students who have gone above and beyond—whether it’s reaching a personal goal, helping others, or making a difference in the community. We can’t wait to share these inspiring stories and honor the incredible ways our students shine!
Alexander Santos
Huge congratulations to Alex—a 2nd grade Husky named a finalist in the USA Songwriting Competition with his original Rock/Alternative song “Shattered Eshoes.” 🎸🎶
Alex independently researched the competition and worked incredibly hard to create a competitive entry. His dedication and self-driven learning at such a young age have truly inspired us!
We’re cheering you on as you await the final results—no matter the outcome, we are so proud of you, Alex! Check out his song below.

Grade Level Newsletters
Our specials team is excited to host a food drive at Hines this school year in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank, one of Dr. Hines’ favorite local charities. From December 1–13, students may bring non-perishable food items and place them in their grade-level buckets in the cafeteria. The grade level that collects the most items will earn an extra active start on the morning of December 19! Thank you for supporting our community and helping teach our Huskies the spirit of generosity!
