Rocket Family News

Rocket Families,

Please remember students & staff will not have school Friday 3/29 and Monday 4/01. We'll celebrate World Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd by wearing Blue when we return from the student/staff holiday. In honor of Autism Acceptance Month, we'll be wearing Blue at Rowe Lane at the beginning of the week on Mondays for the month of April.

We're excited to participate in the Eclipse Viewing Event at Rowe Lane April 8th. See below for more information about this unique experience!

Check out other exciting events happening in our Rowe Lane Community below.

Rocket Families,

As you may know, central Texas is in the path of the solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. We do have school on this day and have a plan for safe viewing of the eclipse. Please see below for details of our campus plan.

• All grade levels have a designated area to view the eclipse during totality. Students will stay with their class and teacher. For the safety and protection of our students, we are not open to visitors at this time.

• The campus will be closed to visitors from 1:00-2:00 pm. Early student sign-outs need to be complete before 1:00 pm.

• Students will have a safety lesson(s) in class and will practice wearing their glasses leading up to the event.

• All students will have eclipse glasses provided to them free of charge. Thank you to our PTO for purchasing these!

• The temperature is expected to get colder during the eclipse. Consider sending your child with a lightweight jacket.

• Your child’s teacher will communicate with you if they would like you to send blankets or towels.

• Students will be allowed to have their glasses off during totality from 1:36-1:38 p.m. At all other times of the afternoon (from noon until dismissal time) that students are outside, they will have their eclipse glasses.

• Check out this safety flyer for more information about the eclipse. While we will be reviewing expectations at school, you may want to go over some of the key points with your child at home too.

If you do not want your child to participate in the eclipse, please fill out this Opt Out Form linked here no later than Thursday, April 4th. Students who opt-out will stay inside with a staff member for the duration of the event.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me directly at Hillary.Waggoner@pfisd.net.

Thank you,

Hillary Waggoner

Rowe Lane Elementary Principal

Families, please remember campus crosswalks need to be utilized at all times, as walking across the street through oncoming traffic is dangerous. Students dropped off in the parking lot to walk alone through oncoming traffic is also dangerous. Safety is our priority here at Rowe Lane and we need our families help to model and encourage safe habits for our students.

Also, our bus loop is CLOSED for parent drop-off until 7:25 a.m. when all students have safely exited from school buses. Families driving through the bus loop while students are unloading poses a safety risk for our children and staff. After 7:25 a.m. families may use the bus loop to drop off students. Families are prohibited from parking in the bus loop at anytime. The bus loop may only be used in the morning to drop off students from the car. If your child needs additional support outside of the vehicle, plan to park in the main parking lot and walk them to the front of the school.

We thank you for your understanding and care for our children’s safety.

NO CAP COMEDY SHOW with headliner, Comedian Keith Terry! Also featuring multi-talented high school students of PfISD! This is the biggest pfundraiser Pfood Pfairness in Pflugerville Schools has ever had, and we are humbled by Comedian Keith Terry's generous donation of his time and talent to the cause! The show will help us finish out this school year strong and get a jump start on raising funds for the 2024-25 school year. Our goal is to continue fighting food insecurity and inequity, providing hot entrées to students who would otherwise have to choose between hunger and humiliation, and preventing lunch debt that would eventually come out of the district's funds.

PfISD is partnering with the Phoenix House Texas to provide a lunch and learn Zoom series for families!

In these sessions, you will learn about different ways to connect with your teenagers and strengthen your family! Register at the link below to attend one or all of the sessions:
