Thanksgiving Break '25

We wish everyone a restful and joyful holiday break! Schools and district offices will be closed from November 21–30, 2025, and will reopen on Monday, December 1, 2025. We are extremely grateful for every member of Rattler Nation! Special thanks to the SMCISD Child Nutrition Department for feeding all staff and students a delicious Thanksgiving meal on Thursday to celebrate the beginning of the holiday!

AREA CHAMPS! The Rattlers battled through a two-hour weather delay to take down the Edinburg Bobcats, 33-3 on Saturday, November 23! The Rattlers will take on Austin Vandegrift on Friday, November 28, inside the Alamodome at 7:30 PM. San Marcos CISD will share all ticket information as soon as it becomes available so be sure to follow us on social media for all updates (@SanMarcosCISD).

A note-worthy performance from start to finish! San Marcos High School's, The Music Man, was a smash thanks to an incredible cast and crew that featured our middle and elementary school thespians. BRAVO! Special shoutout to Director, Tommie Jackson and Tech Director, Emily Rohrman on a job well done preparing and coaching our students to be their very best!

Congratulations to (left to right) Cole Wiatrek, Charlie Helgeson and Caleb Gomez on signing to continue their athletic careers beyond graduation! Wishing them the best of luck as they finish out their high school baseball season. Thank you to Coach Webb and the entire baseball coaching staff for their guidance, support, and dedication throughout their journey. We are proud of you all!

The Hernandez Heroes celebrated the end of their Touchdowns for Reading Challenge with a pep rally on November 20! Guest readers from SMHS — including the band, football team, dance team, and cheerleaders — visited classrooms and spent the afternoon reading with students before everyone came together to celebrate 115 touchdowns, representing more than 34,000 minutes of reading logged campus-wide. Way to go, Heroes! And a big round of applause for Principal Jennifer Gonzalez, who bravely kept her promise to take an ice-bucket dunk at the students’ request!

The San Marcos FFA LDE teams traveled to Davenport High School for the River District LDE Contest earlier this month. The following are the results:

Huge shoutout to our SMHS Cheerleaders, led by Coach Gabriella Guerrero, for finishing as a Top 4 Finalist at the Cheer America Bargain Blastoff! Their hard work, spirit, and teamwork were on full display; they showed up and showed OUT!

The Marvelous Miller Theater Program has done it again! Another AMAZING show! Saturday's cast of "Don't Try to Wake Him, Hand Me The Shovel", was truly spectacular! Congratulations to the entire cast and crew! Also, a huge shout out to Mr. Oden for helping our students bring this show to life! BRAVO, Rattlers!
