A Note from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter the final six weeks of school, we want to take a moment to celebrate how far our students have come! This time of year, our classrooms truly feel like families—students have spent many months together, forming bonds and growing academically and socially.

With that closeness, however, can also come some challenges. It’s not uncommon to see more name-calling, hands-on behavior, or difficulty following directions during this stretch. We are reaching out to ask for your support in reinforcing positive behavior at school.

Please take a moment to remind your child of the expectations you have for how they act at school. We want to help them understand that it's okay to disagree, but it must be done respectfully—without hurtful words or physical actions. Our staff is always here to help students navigate conflict in a safe and supportive way. The easiest path to success is simply following adult directions the first time.

We’ve had a wonderful year so far, and we are looking forward to ending it on a high note! May is full of exciting events and fun opportunities. We don’t want anyone to miss out due to behavior concerns.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us finish the year strong—with kindness, learning, and lots of fun!

Warm regards,
Kim Kimberling, Principal

Test Day Lunch for 3rd-5th

It is nice for the students to have a special sack lunch from home to look forward to after testing with special treats. The cafeteria will provide a lunch for students if needed. The regular lunch fee will apply.

STAAR Information

Dear Brock Parents:

Your student will be participating in the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR). STAAR is an achievement test that allows BISD to measure how well students are mastering essential skills for their grade level. The STAAR is a rigorous test. Please be sure your child understands the importance of doing their best work and giving their best effort. The majority of the STAAR assessments will test material students studied this year. Students will have the school day to complete the assessment.

The test will be given on the following dates:

Tuesday, April 15th- 5th STAAR Science

Wednesday, April 23rd- 3rd, 4th, and 5th STAAR Math

You can help by ensuring your child is rested, has a good breakfast, and optimistic outlook. Breakfast is served from 7:15-7:35 in the Brock Cafeteria.

Please plan for your student to arrive at school on time and do not schedule any appointments that would require his/her leaving early or arriving late. We would like to address a policy that the State of Texas requires for all school districts. State testing requirements specifically state that cell phones are not permitted in classrooms where the testing is taking place. The teachers will pick up any cell phones that are brought to school at the beginning of the day, and the cell phones will be returned to the students at the end of the day without penalty. These procedures will help ensure a successful STAAR experience.

Brock students and teachers have been working hard to prepare for the STAAR. I know many parents are working with their children in conjunction with the classroom teacher. Your contributions of time and patience are appreciated. A good home/school partnership helps students be successful. Thank you again for your help in making the STAAR a positive and successful experience for your child.

It is nice for the students to have a special sack lunch from home to look forward to after testing with special treats. The cafeteria will provide a lunch for students if needed. The regular lunch fee will apply. Visitors will not be allowed to eat lunch on campus the day of state testing. Because schedules are different on STAAR days, the campus is closed to visitors.

If you would like your Kindergarten-3rd grade child to have a Field Day shirt, please purchase at the link below. Mrs. Howard will pass them out the day before field day. Order before April 30, 2025.
