Term 1 Mid-term

We know it may be hard to believe, but we just passed the middle of term 1 this past week!

This is an excellent time take a moment to review your child’s progress with them. Talk with them about how things are going, what's working, and what can be better.

You can follow these steps to view mid-term averages on your Aspen portal:

  • Select the “MY INFO” top tab
  • Select the “TRANSCRIPT” side tab
  • Your child’s quarter one mid-term averages will be listed under the column heading of “Q1prg”.

If you are experiencing login difficulties please contact the Hingham Aspen Help Desk at aspenhelp@hinghamschools.org.

Questions or concerns regarding your child’s class average should be directed to the appropriate teacher.

Thank you!

HMS Helpful Hints - Bus Passes

We are hoping to answer some questions and to provide some clarity around our new bus pass system for our students in grades 7 through 12, and what your child can expect going forward.

We are aware that not every student who has paid the bus fee has received their bus pass. Please be assured they will not be denied transportation while we work through this distribution process. Once we are confident that all passes have been distributed, we will begin requiring the passes. This will most likely begin later this month.

On a related note, we understand that it is highly possible that your middle schooler will forget their bus pass sometime between now and the end of the year. If this should happen, they will still be allowed to board the bus, with the expectation that they bring it next time. However, if this becomes a recurring issue, we will reach out to discuss it with you and your student in order to find a solution.

If you have any transportation related questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact our transportation department at transportation@hinghamschools.org.

Help Wanted!

Recently, we've noticed a number of students have begun making paper "dart" airplanes with the goal of getting them to stick in our ceiling tiles. We have started to see darts include sharp metal objects in the tip for more 'sticking power.' As of today, this behavior has only been a nuisance, but we want to make sure our students stay safe and make good decisions. We are talking to the kids here at school about eliminating this behavior and ask that you reinforce this conversation at home.

Please understand that students engaging in this behavior may face disciplinary consequences, as it is both disruptive and potentially dangerous.

Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school environment safe and focused on learning!
