A Message from the Principal
Supporting Student Well-Being at Coosa Elementary
At Coosa Elementary, we believe that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and valued. Through our participation in the Measurable Results Assessment (MRA), families, staff, and students provide feedback that helps us understand how well our school supports leadership, culture, and academics. This information helps us celebrate successes and identify areas for continued growth.
One area highlighted in the report focuses on student well-being and the supportive environment we create for every child. At Coosa, we intentionally build a school culture where students feel a strong sense of belonging, develop positive relationships with adults and peers, and learn skills that support their emotional and social growth.
Some of the ways we support student well-being include:
-
Teaching leadership habits through Leader in Me and the 7 Habits, helping students build responsibility, empathy, and confidence.
-
Providing opportunities for students to build relationships and develop leadership through school clubs and school-wide leadership roles, allowing students to collaborate, contribute their strengths, and feel connected to our school community.
-
Recognizing positive behavior and leadership through programs such as Bobcat Bucks, Student of the Month, and our Friday Positive Referral recognitions, which celebrate students who demonstrate leadership, kindness, and strong character.
-
Providing a supportive environment where students feel heard, valued, and empowered through morning Habit Huddles, support from our Student Services Team, classroom guidance lessons and small groups, and opportunities for student voice and choice in club offerings and participation.
These efforts contribute to the positive culture we see in our classrooms and throughout our school community.
Over the next several weeks, we will continue highlighting other areas from the MRA and sharing how they connect to the experiences of our students and families. We will also invite your feedback as we work together to continuously improve and strengthen our Bobcat community.
Thank you for partnering with us to support the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.
Dr. Goudy
Official School Logo
Our district has selected an official logo that will be used on school communications, signage, and future spiritwear to ensure consistency across our school and district. Families should know that spiritwear featuring our previous logo may still be worn this year and in future years, as it remains an important part of our school’s history. New spiritwear featuring the updated logo will be available soon. While the look may be new, the heart of Coosa Elementary remains the same—a continued legacy of excellence and leadership for our Bobcats and Lowcountry Leaders! 🐾
