Snow Day Plans Snow Day Plans

North Kansas City Schools will observe one traditional snow day this season. While it hasn’t been used often in the past, we are also considering using a two-hour delayed start in the event of early-morning weather concerns.

For our second snow day (and any additional snow days), students will participate in virtual learning from home using their iPads. Our virtual learning day may look different from siblings in other grade levels.

On each virtual day, we will post a pre-recorded video to Seesaw in the morning. This video will connect with students and provide directions for the day. We will also share a choice board on Seesaw. There are 5 boards and students will complete ONE activity on each board. Depending on the day, they may also have assignments from PE, art, music, counseling, or library. Teachers will be available throughout the day to answer questions via email or Seesaw Messenger.

If you’ve been with us in previous years, please know this plan will look different from our past snow day routines. Nothing can replace face-to-face instruction, and we always look forward to being back together at school.

Please reach out with any questions!

Cold Weather Cold Weather

With cooler weather approaching, please make sure students are dressed appropriately as the wind can be quite chilly out on the playground. For jackets and coats, we encourage you to write your student's name on the tag so we can return it to the correct student if it's misplaced.

Every effort is made to ensure students enjoy outdoor recess. However, weather conditions may require adjustments based on the following district guidelines:

  • Above 25°F (wind chill): Regular outdoor recess
  • Below 25°F (wind chill): Indoor recess
  • Above 95°F (heat index): Shortened outdoor recess or indoor recess
  • Rain, snow, and other unsafe conditions may also result in indoor recess

Snack and Water Bottle ALWAYS WELCOME DAILY!

Students are welcome to bring a healthy snack each day. They will learn to prepare, eat and clean up their snacks independently. Please refrain from sending juice or sports drinks for snack time. Those items may be sent in their lunch boxes. We will enjoy water in our classroom. As stated in our BP handbook, students will not share opened snacks with each other.

What's for lunch? What's for lunch?

Contact Me!

E-mail or Seesaw is the most efficient way to get in touch with me. I will make every effort to return e-mails within 24hrs. Should an emergency arise throughout our school day, please do NOT rely on e-mail to contact me. Please contact the office.
