Mustang Messenger
January 5th - 9th, 2026
Reminder: School resumes on Tuesday, January 6th!
Happy New Year! We hope that your family had a wonderful holiday season! If you are new to our school this semester, welcome to Monroe! We are excited about starting 2026 and are looking forward to seeing everyone!
Please remember to send your child with a water bottle (with water only please) and snack. Classroom snack donations are always welcome and can be sent or dropped off to your child's teacher.
The doors for school open at 7:25 AM. Please be sure your student does not arrive earlier than 7:25 AM -- we don't want any of our students waiting unsupervised or in the cold. The only exception to this is the 7:15 AM arrival time for 4th and 5th grade Manyawi! students when they have rehearsal.
Student drop off ends at 7:50 a.m., please make every effort to be at school no later than this time. Staff members stand outside in the cold (and sometimes freezing rain) to help unload cars and need to go inside by this time. We also do not want students to miss crucial instructional time.
All car riders must be picked up in the car rider line in the south parking lot by 3:00 PM each day.
- If daily transportation plans change, please notify the front office by 2:00 PM - (405) 366-5927.
Details regarding arrival and dismissal procedures can be found in the Monroe Parent Guide. This information includes links to maps as well which will be useful in helping you drop off and pick up your child(ren) as quickly as possible each day.
We go out to recess if the temperatures (and wind chill) are 32 or higher. Please send students with jackets/coats/etc when it is cold. If you need help getting your child a coat, please let us know!
Please label coats, jackets, and other cold weather items with names. This helps us when we have items in Lost and Found.
The Monroe Parent Guide has further information and details. This is great resource for families new to us this semester as well!
Two of the biggest factors in school success for children are sleep and attendance. As your child is getting back into school routines, here are references for school attendance and bedtimes at home to help them get enough rest and do their best! We understand and want your child to stay home to get better when they are sick. We also need your child rested and at school an adequate number of school days per year to ensure that they are learning at the fullest capacity.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child(ren)!

Monroe Champions Volunteer Opportunity
Looking for a way to help teachers through volunteering at Monroe? We need you, we are thankful for you and you are a key part of what makes Monroe a magical place! Monroe Champions is a volunteer based group of moms, grandmas, aunties, mom-figures, and community members committed to empowering our teachers and staff through volunteering in various ways in the classroom, library, gymnasium, office and cafeteria. This looks like leading reading groups with students, helping put up a bulletin board, mentoring, laminating, making copies, and everything in between. We want to come alongside our Monroe teachers/staff and partner with them to encourage, empower and champion them as they invest in our students!
You must complete this form and the required district forms in order to volunteer. The district forms are linked in this sign up.
Thank you again for championing with us!

Power Down to Power Up
Students will be expected to turn off and put away personal devices - in their backpack - such as phones, earbuds, and smartwatches during the school day, including lunch and passing periods.
Exceptions are in place for emergencies, documented medical needs, and approved assistive technology
If you need to reach your child during the school day, there are several options. You can call the school office, and staff will make sure your child gets the message.
We encourage you to talk with your student about the importance of being present and limiting distractions. Your support at home makes a big difference in helping us create a learning environment where students can thrive.
