Blaine BPA Earns 17 State Titles and 38 National Qualifiers
- Blaine High School’s BPA chapter had an outstanding showing at the State Leadership Conference held March 5–7 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. Ninety-seven Blaine students competed, and during the awards ceremony our chapter was recognized 98 times as finalists, highlighting the incredible talent, preparation, and dedication of these students.
By the end of the conference, Blaine students earned:
- 17 State Championships
- 38 National Qualifiers heading to the National Leadership Conference in May
- 3 Chapter Awards
- 11 Statesman Awards
- 2 newly elected State Officers
- 2 outgoing State Officers recognized for their service
A full list of results can be found HERE.
The conference also brought a special honor to our program as Holly Boisjolie was named the Minnesota Secondary BPA Advisor of the Year. Blaine Senior and State President Ericka Miller shared, “Mrs. Boisjolie is one of those mentors who doesn't need an incentive to put her all into every student. She doesn't need a ‘why’ to keep going because we are her ‘why’. I think we work so hard because we want her to see how much her dedication means to us and to honor her.”
We also proudly recognized our outgoing State Officers, Ericka Miller (State President) and Nolawi Gibe (Vice President of Communications). Both represented Blaine with exceptional leadership throughout the year and helped create a welcoming, energetic environment for members across the state.
Congratulations to Juniors Anushkaa Sinha and Sienna Grant, who were elected to serve on the 2026–2027 BPA State Officer Team. Their term will officially begin following the National Leadership Conference in May.
Senior Mark Elau also earned national recognition as a National Finalist in Virtual Promotional Photography. His project, based on the theme Perspective Shift, challenged viewers to see a familiar scene from an unconventional angle. After competing against more than 600 students nationwide, advancing through multiple rounds and a virtual interview, Mark will now present his work on the national stage with a chance to earn Best in Show at the BPA National Showcase.
Next up, our qualifiers will travel to the National Leadership Conference in May, where they will compete against top students from around the world. Thank you to the families and community members who continue to support these incredible opportunities for our students. If you are interested in helping support this experience through a donation to assist with travel costs, please reach out to Holly Boisjolie, BPA Advisor, at holly.boisjolie@ahschools.us.
BPA State Officers at the Capitol
Two Blaine High School students had the opportunity to represent Minnesota Business Professionals of America at the Minnesota Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Day at the Capitol in St. Paul. Seniors Ericka Miller, Minnesota BPA State President, and Nolawi Gibe joined student leaders from across the state for the annual event, which brings together members of organizations such as FFA, DECA, HOSA, and SkillsUSA to advocate for Career and Technical Education (CTE).
During the day, students met with legislators, observed parts of the legislative process, and shared how CTE programs help prepare them for future careers. The event allows students to highlight the importance of hands-on learning, leadership opportunities, and the impact that continued support and funding for CTE programs can have on students across Minnesota.
Ericka reflected on the experience as both powerful and eye-opening. She shared that hearing testimonies from parents and survivors connected to recent events, as well as seeing the reactions and discussions that followed, gave her a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in policy decisions. She described the opportunity to witness these conversations in person as a rare and meaningful learning experience.
Nolawi also found the day impactful. He shared that meeting with different representatives and seeing the inner workings of the Minnesota State Capitol was an eye-opening experience. Watching the legislative process firsthand, especially how bills move through the House, gave him a new perspective on how decisions are made that affect students and schools.
Experiences like CTSO Day at the Capitol provide students with a unique opportunity to connect their classroom learning with real world leadership and civic engagement. Blaine High School is proud of Ericka and Nolawi for representing both their school and Minnesota BPA while advocating for the importance of Career and Technical Education.
