Post Secondary Institution Visits
Fall Open House season is winding down and if you were unable to attend an Open House at the institution you were considering, options are still available. There are a couple of ways to check out an institution to see if it's a good fit.
The first option is for students and parents to book a campus tour. Advisors will meet with the student and parent to review admission requirements and answer any questions. A school tour will take place and in many cases a residence tour may also be set up.
There is also the option of "Student for a Day." On this day students have the opportunity to meet instructors and staff of the program they are interested in, tour the facilities, and to sit in on classes.
The next option would be a virtual tour and consult with an advisor. All institutions are more than accommodating at meeting with prospective students and parents.
It is strongly encouraged that students and their parents visit any and all of the post-secondary schools they are considering attending. Take advantage of all the opportunities available to see and learn more.
Green Certificate Program
Green Certificate is an agriculture training program through Olds College or Lakeland College. It is offered to students fifteen years of age and older that are enrolled in grade ten, eleven, and twelve. This style of training ensures plenty of hands-on learning and working one to one with their trainer.
Students earn up to sixteen credits per specialization when completing the program. There are currently 14 specializations for students to choose from. Three sections make up each specialization with testing on each of the three levels. Testing is all one to one with the tester and done orally. Students have up to three years or the end of their grade 12 year to complete the program.
