Warrior Families,
As we welcome November, it is a wonderful time to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for. I am especially grateful for our amazing students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and the strong sense of community that makes Lac du Flambeau Public School such a special place to learn and grow.
November provides a great opportunity to focus on kindness, gratitude, and responsibility. We encourage our students to continue demonstrating our schoolwide expectations of Respect Your Self, Respect Others, and Respect the Environment. Whether it is lending a helping hand, including others, showing appreciation, or making responsible choices, these small acts can make a big difference in creating a positive school environment.
This month, we also look forward to recognizing Veterans Day and honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. It is an important opportunity for our students to learn about service, sacrifice, and the importance of showing gratitude to those who have served.
I also want to take a moment to thank our families for their continued partnership and support. Working together, we can help every student feel valued, supported, and successful.
Chi Miigwech for all you do to support our students and school!
Warrior Reminders:
Please make sure your child arrives to school on time each day. Student drop off and breakfast begins at 7:40 AM. Students need to be in their classrooms no later than 8:10 am.
Attendance matters. If your child is absent, please contact the school explaining the reason for their absence. Regular attendance is critical to student success. We understand that illness and family emergencies happen, but we ask that families make every effort to schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours. Consistent attendance is one of the keys to academic success.
Thank you,
Ben Fieck
Principal

If you have not already done so, please bring in your child's birth certificate. Tiffany Bauman/LDF Registrar needs a copy of every child's birth certificate in the school office. It is important to know that not having the birth certificate in your child's file, could affect their registration to school in the fall and also may create extra confusion when getting school clothes via the Economic Support Program. Helping Your Child Receive the Full Benefit of Their Education-Facts from the Attendance Office
An absence is any time your child misses any portion of the school day after the start of school (8:10 AM) and before the scheduled end of school (3:25 PM).
Absences are further broken down as excused and unexcused.
All excused absences require communication with school. Any absence lacking communication remains unexcused until such time as information is provided to the school. For an absence to be excused, we need communication from you (email, phone call, written note). It is never too late to communicate for a past absence. Remember, good attendance is more than simply complying with laws; rather, it is truly a matter of providing our children with more and better opportunities to learn!

Cultural Connections Updates
7 Grandfather Teachings --
The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Native American way of life are built around the seven natural laws, or sacred teachings. Each teaching honors one of the basic virtues intrinsic to a full and healthy life.
Each law is embodied by an animal to underscore the point that all actions and decisions made by man are manifest on a physical plain. The animal world taught man how to live close to the earth, and the connection that has been established between the animal world and that of man has instilled a respect for all life in those who follow the traditional way.
- The Eagle teaches us LOVE. Love must be unconditional.
- The Buffalo teaches us RESPECT. Respect is the condition of being honored.
- The Bear teaches us COURAGE. Courage is the ability to face danger, fear, or changes with confidence and bravery.
- The Butterfly teaches us HONESTY.
- The Beaver teaches us WISDOM. Wisdom is the ability to make decisions based on personal knowledge and experience.
- The Wolf teaches us HUMILITY. Humility is being humble and not arrogant.
- The Turtle teaches us TRUTH. Truth is to know and understand all the seven teachings have given to us by the Creator and to remain faithful to them.
