Thank you to all of the students, families, and staff that participated in our dress up days. It is so fun to see everyone with school spirit. Sports day is one of my favorite days because I can represent my favorite college football team - Ohio State Buckeyes. I only have a few people that cheer on with me and one of them is Chloe. We have taken a picture every year together.

We have our first PTO meeting of the year on Monday, September 16th at 5:30 PM in the library. This is a great place to meet other parents and help the school. In addition, our first family fun night will be on September 19th from 5:30 - 7:00 PM. We will have a variety of games and activities for you to participate in around the school.

This Monday we will also welcome Matt Wilhelm to our school. I saw him perform a few years ago and his message, as well as his talents, were amazing. We believe in spreading an anti-bullying message consistently throughout the school year. We are very grateful for the donation that allows Matt to visit us.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Coate

Examples of our September Theme of Respect Examples of our September Theme of Respect

The kids played Connect Four with their spelling words today. They did a great job with voice level, playing fair, and being good sports.

This month we are focusing on what respect means and how we show that for our Social Emotional goal! Raising our hands when wanting to give an answer verses shouting out, listening with our eyes and ears when someone is speaking, and applauding our speakers after they are done are just a couple ways we are showing respect in the classroom ❤️❤️❤️ Great job first graders!!!!!!

How do we grade at the elementary level? We use a standards-based report card instead of a report card with letter grades. Elementary report cards are issued at the end of each grading period. They are intended to give an evaluation of the scholastic achievement and work habits of each child. Parents should examine all cards carefully since each child is rated not only on academic progress, but also progress in development of social attitudes and work habits.

We use a 4,3,2,1 system to assess a student's mastery of standards.

4 = Exceeding State and District Standards

3 = Meeting State and District Standards

2 = Approaching State and District Standards

1 = Not Meeting State and District Standards
