The final week of school is officially here, and we have crossed the finish line of the 2025β2026 school year! Together, we have navigated an incredible year of learning, growing, and achieving. You should all be immensely proud of the progress made this year!
As we bid farewell to the school year, we center our hearts around our final character word, Integrity. As our scholars transition into summer, letβs leave them with this beautiful reminder:
"The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively." β Bob Marley
Whether our Tigers are at home, on vacation, or helping out in the community this summer, we know they will continue to carry themselves with the honesty, kindness, and strong character they practiced all year long.

Counselor's Corner
Dear Tiger Families,
As we wrap up another wonderful school year, I want to wish all of our students and families a happy, safe, and relaxing summer! This year has been filled with growth, learning, friendship, and perseverance, and I am so proud of all that our students have accomplished.
Summer is a great time to continue building social-emotional skills by spending time with family and friends, trying new activities, helping others, and practicing kindness wherever you go. Remember to take care of your mind and body by getting plenty of rest, staying active, and making time for things that bring you joy.
Thank you for your partnership and support throughout the year. I hope your summer is filled with fun adventures, special memories, and opportunities to recharge. I look forward to seeing our students return in the fall ready for another amazing year of learning and growth!
Have a wonderful summer!
Warm regards,
Ms. Chandler
Math Department
As we celebrate the end of another successful school year, I want to congratulate our students on all of their hard work and growth in mathematics! From solving problems and learning new strategies to building confidence and perseverance, our students have accomplished so much this year.
Summer is a wonderful time to keep math skills sharp through everyday experiences. Families can support math learning by involving children in activities such as cooking, measuring, shopping, counting money, telling time, reading calendars, and playing board or card games. Encouraging children to explain their thinking and solve real-world problems helps strengthen their mathematical understanding in fun and meaningful ways.
Most importantly, help your child see that math is all around us! A few minutes of math practice each day can make a big difference and help students return to school feeling confident and ready to learn.
Thank you for your partnership throughout the year. I hope your family enjoys a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. We look forward to seeing everyone back in the fall for another exciting year of mathematical learning and growth!
Mathematically,
Coach Jones
Reading Department
Dear Tiger Families,
What an incredible year of reading, learning, and growing! As the school year comes to a close, I want to celebrate all of the progress our students have made. From learning new sight words and phonics skills to building fluency and deepening comprehension, our readers have worked hard and achieved so much.
Summer is the perfect opportunity to nurture a lifelong love of reading. One of the best ways families can support literacy growth is by making reading a regular part of the daily routine. Encourage your child to read books that match their interests, visit your local library, listen to audiobooks during car rides, and take time to read together as a family. Talking about stories, asking questions, and making connections to real-life experiences can help strengthen comprehension skills.
Remember, every reading experience counts! Reading recipes, signs, magazines, comic books, and even directions for games provides valuable practice and helps children see the importance of reading in everyday life.
Thank you for your support and partnership throughout the school year. I hope your family enjoys a summer filled with great books, memorable adventures, and plenty of opportunities to read, learn, and explore together.
Happy reading, and have a wonderful summer!

Also, as we come to the end of the wonderful school year, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and partnership throughout this academic journey. Your involvement and dedication have been instrumental in fostering a positive and enriching learning environment for our students. This year has been filled with growth, challenges, and countless achievements. Your support at home, whether through helping with homework, attending parent-teacher conferences, or encouraging your child to do their best, has played a crucial role in their success. Together, we have worked to help students meet their academic and personal goals and we are so excited to see them move on to 1st grade.
We are incredibly proud of the progress and accomplishments of our students. 1st Grade
As we come to the end of an incredible school year, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our first grade families for your support, encouragement, and partnership. It has been a joy watching our students grow into more confident readers, writers, mathematicians, and problem-solvers. We are so proud of all they have accomplished this year!
As summer begins, we encourage families to continue supporting learning at home to help prevent the "summer slide" and ensure students are ready for a successful start to second grade. Reading together each day is one of the best ways to keep skills strong. Encourage your child to read books, magazines, signs, and other texts that interest them. Ask questions about what they read and talk about stories together.
You can also support math learning through everyday activities such as counting money, measuring while cooking, practicing addition and subtraction facts, telling time, and playing games that involve numbers and problem-solving. Encourage your child to write throughout the summer by keeping a journal, writing letters to family members, or creating stories about their summer adventures.
Most importantly, help your child continue building independence by encouraging responsibility, perseverance, and a love of learning. These skills will help them transition smoothly into second grade and beyond.
Thank you for a wonderful year. We wish you and your family a safe, healthy, and fun-filled summer filled with special memories. We can't wait to hear about all of your adventures when school begins again!
2nd Grade
We Made It to the Finish Line, Second Grade Families! π
Can you believe it? Just like that, our incredible second-grade journey has officially come to an end! It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming your children into our classrooms, and now we are sending them off as rising third graders.
We are so incredibly grateful to have spent this year helping your scholars learn, grow, and prepare for the next big level in their lives. We have made so many unforgettable memories together this year. From the focused determination of our spelling bees to the excitement of our field trips, and the pure joy of our celebrations throughout the year and park picnics, we have truly cherished every single moment with this amazing group of kids.
βοΈ Keeping the Momentum Alive This Summer
While summer is absolutely a time for rest and play, we encourage you to take a little time over the break to keep the learning alive. Reading together, practicing quick math facts, or exploring the outdoors are great ways to ensure they continue to grow into the brilliant, capable individuals we know they can be.
Thank you for your endless support, partnership, and dedication this year. We couldn't have done it without you. Have a safe, happy, and wonderful summerβthird grade, here they come! πβ¨
3rd Grade
Greetings Team Third Grade,
Well, weβve concluded the final chapter in our third grade story. We hope it was a βstemtasticβ year for all and a lot of great memories were made along the way. We are very proud of our students and their accomplishments. Now, itβs almost time to open the book to chapter one of your new fourth grade story!
Until that book opens, keep the learning happening. Here are a few ways to make summer learning fun and engaging.
Our students should always be reading a book for pleasure. Be certain to visit the library or book store to pick out a few special summer themed books. Consider suggesting as much nonfiction and informational texts as possible. These texts really help boost comprehension and critical reading skills.
Learn about new and faraway places and plan the βultimateβ vacation. Try reading about new hobbies or sports. Students love graphic novels so those are fine but encourage a few other genres as well.
Summer Math might include making sure your students have mastered their multiplication facts and have maintained their progress. Try cooking, baking, and measuring projects with your student. Practice money skills while shopping or try planning a vacation with a budget. Card and dice games or scavenger hunts are good ways to tie in math. Use sidewalk chalk to practice problems. Use license plate numbers to work up some math problems.
What can the students do for Science during the summer? Anything nature relatedβ¦the students really enjoyed fishing on our last trip. Try going to the zoo and learning about animals or visiting museums and finding the fossils on exhibit. Any activity with measurement, graphing, and estimation is good. Try sink or float experiments at the pool or kitchen chemistry projects (then you are bringing in math and science!). STEM projects are always a hit, or visit the Lego Discovery Center.
If you are trying to support your student who loves social studies, go to a local museum. We have quite a few to consider. Again, the library is a good place to find topics of interest. Discuss the election process which is very prevalent in the news. Take a trip to Williamsburg or the Frederick Douglass historic site.
What about health topics for the summer? Healthy eating with meal planning or sun safety are two important topics. This is yet another way to tie in cooking. Completing a homemade fitness circuit or obstacle course is a fun outside activity. Learning about plants, especially poison ivy, is another possibility.
There are endless possibilities for summer adventure! Thanks for your help and support throughout the year!! Now, enjoy and be safe!
4th Grade
Greetings Team 4Ward,
I hope that message finds you well. Although we have come to the end of the road, just know that learning continues. Team 4Ward wants to thank you all for your continued support, dedication, advocacy, hugs, and kind words you have shown this year. We are proud of the effort that was shown by our students this year. We hope that they continue to show integrity as they move through the rest of their educational journey. Finally we hope that you have enjoyed your experience in 4th grade and have memories to cherish.
As our scholars enter their final year of elementary school please continue to have discussions with them around your expectations for behavior and work completion. These talks are more important than ever since expectations and requirements will increase for them in middle and high schools. If you can connect with parents at the middle and high schools to get a better understanding of what is on the horizon.
β±οΈPlan for Summer:
Summer break is fast approaching and this is the time to plan how your scholar will continue to grow. i-Ready and IXL will be available to our students throughout the summer. Also take some time to look into the different offerings given by the Prince Georgeβs County Memorial Library System. Students should have at least 45 minutes of practice in math and reading weekly. Begin planning now how your scholar will reach this goal each week. The county also releases an enrichment packet for the four major subjects that can be used.
Warmly,
4th Grade Team
5th Grade
