Letter from Mr. V
Dear Jaguar Community,
Happy November Break! I am filled with so much gratitude for you all. There are many reasons to give thanks as a member of this school community. At the moment, I am particularly appreciative of your support of our mentoring program and the PTO's food drive.
At this point, most of you have heard me talk about how important I feel mentoring is for children. This fall, I set a goal to increase our program from 3 high school students to a mixture of 10 mentors from the high school and the community. We've had a real surge in mentor candidates recently, and our current count is 12 mentors that are either currently matched or going through the process of getting matched! What's more is that the majority of these folks are community members. Thank you to those of you who have stepped up to make a positive impact in the lives of our kiddos. If you are interested in keeping this momentum going, email or call me to get matched with one of our amazing students!
On Friday, Ann Hennard-Ruth and her trusty crew of parent volunteers and 6th grade students gathered and counted all of the non-perishable donations made across the school. After all was said and done, JES families donated over 290 food items! We also had a family donate an entire Thanksgiving meal that is going out to a grateful family this coming week! As you well know, food insecurity is a consistent hardship for some, and the recent benefit fluctuations only exacerbated the issue. Your generosity in this season of giving is seen and is certainly appreciated by those who stand to benefit.
Thank you again for your dedication to making our school a place of support, compassion, and excellence. Your partnership is invaluable, and it is a privilege to lead a community that so consistently and selflessly goes above and beyond.
Yours truly,
Dane VanNosdeln

Each year, our 5th graders go to Starbase to learn about aerospace engineering, flight, coding, and other science concepts. Check out Mr. I's class' first trip down to the base!
