MAP Family Reports Coming Home
Students will soon be coming home with their MAP Family Report. This report will show your child's growth over time. Please remember this assessment is only one assessment among the many assessments we give at Salford Hills. It is common to see student progress go up and down over time, and dips here and there should not be a cause for concern. What we are looking to see on this assessment is a general trend upward as students progress though each grade level.
If you would like more information about this assessment, please see the MAP Family Toolkit.

5th Grade Garden of Health Field Trip
Last week, the Souderton Area School District kicked off the “Farm to Fork” Program. “Farm to Fork” was designed to demonstrate community health and stewardship through hands-on, agricultural and science-based classroom learning that centers on how local food is grown. Adoption into SASD curriculum was initiated by Almac Group and championed in collaboration with the Indian Valley Education Foundation (IVEF) and Garden of Health Food Bank, who will serve as advisors to the program.
Board Game Club
Third grade students at Salford Hills have the opportunity to attend the Board Game Club after school. In this club, students get the opportunity to learn and play many different board games with no electronics.
Home and School News
We Need You!!
The Home & School Association helps to plan events and Teacher Appreciation, coordinate volunteers for classroom activities, and so much more. But none of this happens without plenty of helping hands. Sadly, this is the last year for some of our best volunteers.
So we need you now more than ever to ensure these events can continue!
There are so many ways to serve at Salford Hills, both big and small. We would love to see you at our monthly meetings or you can reach out if you are interested in learning more at board@salfordhillshsa.org. Whether you are the parent of a Kindergartener or a 5th grader, it's never too late to get involved!
Next Home & School Meeting: Tuesday, Nov. 10th at 6pm in the SH Cafeteria!
Meetings are a great opportunity to meet other parents, learn about HSA events and discover different ways to get involved and volunteer -- big or small. We need you now more than ever! Bring your ideas, concerns, or questions to the Board and allow the kids to play since childcare is always provided at no cost! We hope you'll join us!
Volunteer Registration Form
If you have any interest in potentially volunteering (donating time, talent, funds or food!) at any time throughout the school year, please fill out the Google form below. There will be plenty of chances to get involved both in the classroom and at after school events. There is no commitment by filling out the form -- it simply adds you to the email list to be notified about opportunities where you could contribute in some way.
In order to be contacted regarding these opportunities, you must join our volunteer list by filling out the form below (you must fill this out each year).
Thank you! 😊
Need Clearances to Volunteer?
** Please note that all prospective volunteers must complete & submit the SASD Community Volunteer Registration and Disclosure Statement found on the SH Volunteering website each year.**
Clearances should be submitted to Mrs. Landis in the main office or at jlandis@soudertonsd.org.
Questions for Home and School?
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, you can reach out via board@salfordhillshsa.org to contact all four board members: president (Heather Zeigler), vice-president (Desiree Bonkoski), secretary (Amy Burns), treasurer (Adria Zane).
