The News
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! (Here's an interesting Super Bowl history graphic --->). Congrats to any Seattle Seahawk fans we may have in Phil Campbell.
What. A. Week! We arrived at school on Monday to a major water leak that forced us to dismiss school early. Crews from the Phil Campbell Water Department and Franklin County Schools worked all day to get water restored. We appreciate all their efforts.
Our boys basketball team ended the regular season with a bang beating Russellville in overtime. They carried that momentum into the area tournament beating Sheffield on Saturday night with Austin Elliott putting an exclamation on the win with a game ending two hand slam dunk. That followed our girls beating Sheffield on Friday night. Our girls and boys teams will play host Mars Hill in the area finals on Tuesday beginning at 6pm. Both teams have automatically advanced to subregion play. Locations and opponents are not yet know.
Oh...I know I brag on them a lot...but our students showed up and showed out Friday and Saturday night Mars Hill (see pictures below). Close to 30 students showed up to support their school two straight weekend nights in Florence. Great job! Great school spirit!
Our Future Teachers of America students job shadowed several teachers at the high school and elementary school this week learning about a profession that is need of great young men and women who want to make an impact on their community and the world. I had two shadows of my own, Ethan Hallman and Kye Baker. They learned their is never a dull moment as a principal. I had a great time showing them what goes on behind the scenes of school day.
Our FBLA students traveled to Belgreen on Wednesday to participate in Spark Tank (a knock off of the hit business-pitch show Shark Tank on ABC). We had several groups pitch business ideas and two groups came away winners of cash prizes.
Our Juniors and Seniors participated in mock interviews with bank employees this week. It was a great learning experience for those students as they prepare for college and careers.
This week is shaping up to be as busy as last week. I will fill you in next Sunday!
Have A Great Week!
