Curriculum Night (OPEN HOUSE) - October 11th, 2023

As part of our plan to increase parent engagement and home school communication, this year we will invite all students, parents, and families to Curriculum Night between 5:00 pm and 7:30 PM pm on Wednesday, October 11th. This will serve as our first “open house” but run differently than previous years.

During this evening families will have an opportunity to:

*Meet the Head of School and Leadership Team 5pm in the Irish Auditorium;

*Follow their child’s schedule and learn about each course their child is enrolled in;

*Better understand home to school communication and how best to support their student’s academic, behavioral, and social development.

LHS Wins Golden Dinosaur Award

Murtle the Turtle was designed and built by LPS middle school and high school Idea Camp students. We persevered through the cobblestone streets, a mud pit, and then a water obstacle. The mud pit was where Murtle met her demise. We won the Golden Dinosaur award for the most epic breakdown.

LHS teachers Morgan Tierno, Alex Pham, Tom Heywosz, and Patti Adams. Students: Jackie Tran, Issac Maniacalco, Joseph Maniacalco, Dash Hanlon, Matthew Prout, Timmy Prout, and Savannah Condo.

Happening in the Classroom ~ 21 Child Psychology students are expecting!!!!!

Jen Carey’s Child Psychology students will be involved in an Eggsperiment from Monday, September 25, 2023, through Tuesday, October 3, 2023. Jen came across several schools that do not have access to the dolls that mimic babies, but provide a similar learning eggsperience to connect to their courses. This is the first-time she and her students will be doing this project!

The 21 students received their egg-babies on Friday, September 22, 2023, and will spend the weekend preparing their egg-babies for their egg-baby reveal on Monday, September 25. Students will be carrying their egg-babies to classes, practices, work, etc. in an egg-baby carrier that they designed; and will need to find an egg-sitter for times when they cannot care for their egg-baby. The egg-baby cannot be kept in a backpack, lunch bag, car, or any case that does not allow the egg-baby to breathe. Please note: the egg-babies are not real eggs; however, they can break! Students would need to go through an adoption process to replace their broken egg-baby!

Students will be documenting their egg-baby’s development through Instagram pages they create and will be using #eggbabiesoflowellhigh with every post…hope you can check them out! If a student does not use Instagram, they will be creating a photo journal of their egg-baby’s adventures. In addition, they will be writing a reflection of their eggsperience, connecting it to several concepts that are being explored in Child Psychology.

Feel free to check in with students you see walking around with their egg-babies. And if you ever have concerns about an egg-baby’s well-being, feel free to shoot Jen Carey an email!

Students’ egg-baby reveals will be on Monday, September 25, 2023, during period 1 in room 239, if you are free during that time and want to pop in!!
