Volunteers Needed for TCCA

We are looking for a couple more volunteers for this year's TCCA virtual conference. This year you will be able to avoid the traffic, the lines, and all of that walking that is usually required.

We are seeking volunteers that will be co-hosting our virtual sessions. You will stay inside the virtual room for the day and help the host gather audience questions and pose them to the presenter.

If you choose to be a YouTube monitor, you will watch the YouTube presentation and let us know if there are audio or video challenges.

We will provide you with a T-shirt and a volunteer certificate. Unfortunately, you will have to provide your own lunch this year. Click Here to register as a volunteer.

Google Tip of the Week - Google Meet Rooms

Setting up office hours or small groups? Direct Instruction through Google Meet? We have a preferred method that will give you better control of when the Meet is open and when you close it! Take a look at the following instruction sheet or watch the video to find out how. This will eliminate students "hanging out" when you aren't in the Meet room, show you how to remove a student, and use the same nickname for your Meets so you don't have to create a new code every time you want your students to meet.

Open and Close a Google Meet Room - Open and Close a Google Meet using Nicknames

There are MANY ways to insert your Meet Room into Schoology! Reach out to your campus DLS if you need assistance.

ONLINE WHITEBOARD TOOLS

There are some fantastic online whiteboard tools for both face-to-face learning and remote learning.

The simplest is Chrome Canvas and directions on how to use Chrome Canvas are here or you can click here for a video tutorial.

Another great one that you can push out to students to also practice on their own whiteboard is Whiteboard.fi. Click here for a video tutorial.

  • Go to Whiteboard.fi and click "New Class."
  • Name your class and it will create a unique URL.
  • Give the URL to your students. You can paste the URL in the chat box in Google Meet or add it to Schoology.
  • Students open the URL and enter a screen name.
  • Students draw on their whiteboards. Their drawings appear on your screen as well as their own.
  • When a students are done with their drawings they exit the room.
  • You can close the room at any time and students won't be able to access it again.

* You can place an image on the whiteboard and save all the students whiteboards as a PDF

The whiteboard in Schoology is another with lots of features. View the Interactive Whiteboard in Schoology Conferences SlideDeck or click here for a video tutorial.
