Head Cheetah Message
Families,
Our Cheetahs wrapped up the month of May with another very full week! Our second graders had a wonderful field experience, our third graders learned about the Center School band, we hosted our first Works Of Wisdom event, and we all enjoyed an engaging author visit! And if all those positive vibes weren’t enough, we were THRILLED to recognize Mrs. Carolanne Vining as East Hampton’s Teacher Of The Year! Congratulations, Mrs. Vining!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Best,
Joey & Andrea
2025-2026 Parent Feedback Survey
Each year we invite parent feedback regarding your student’s experience within our school community. The survey will remain open until Friday, June 12th.

Additionally, per Public Act 23-167 students in grades 3-12 will also be surveyed the week of June 8th. You can review the student survey in advance: Student Climate Survey. The student survey has also been approved by the East Hampton Board of Education and is both anonymous and optional. Cheetahs In Action
Congratulations to Mrs. Vining - EHPS Teacher of the Year
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Vining on being named this year’s Teacher Of The Year! Through her passion and creativity, Mrs. Vining has dedicated her career to helping young learners learn about, and appreciate, art. She strives to develop strong relationships with her students, and collaborates with classroom teachers to create cross-curricular connections. Thousands of students have benefited from Mrs. Vining’s energy, knowledge, and expertise, and have thoroughly enjoyed their time in the art room. We are so very lucky to have Mrs. Vining brightening our students' lives, and helping them each discover the artist within them.
Grade 2 Visited Nowashe Village
In connection to their Wit & Wisdom module on westward expansion, Grade 2 students visited Nowashe Village to learn about what life was like for Native Americans during that time. They were able to enter a real wigwam, use tools, and grind corn. They even learned how to use an atlatl tool to throw spears, which made the spears more effective for hunting. It was an exciting and informative trip!
Grade 3 Instrument Petting Zoo
Third grade students participated in an “Instrument Petting Zoo” on Tuesday! Ms. Gould (Center School Music Teacher) and Mrs. Maldonado, along with some high school student visitors, demonstrated the various band instrument choices for fourth graders! This included flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. Students experienced the sights and sounds of the instruments and got a chance to hold each instrument. We hope that holding and listening to each instrument inspired our third graders and helped them decide whether they might like to join the band next year at Center School!
Works Of Wisdom
We were thrilled to host our very first Works Of Wisdom event on Wednesday evening. Families traveled through the halls of Memorial marveling over the amazing student work that was produced during Wit & Wisdom lessons this year. We are so proud of how much our students have learned, and we look forward to making Works Of Wisdom an annual event!
Author, Ryan SanAngelo, Visits Memorial School
During grade level assemblies, Ryan SanAngelo, a children’s book author and songwriter, shared insights into the writing process and performed some of his fun, energetic music. Several grade 3 students were also able to have lunch with Mr. SanAngelo. They brought questions from their classrooms about what it’s like to be an author.
Garden Club Update
With warmer weather, the Garden Club continued to fill our beds with seeds and plants. We are also watching our strawberry plants that are producing fruit and are excited to sample our strawberries.
PAWSitive Office Referrals
A PAWsitive office referral is submitted when a staff member recognizes a student who is going above and beyond to exemplify one of our three school rules - taking care of others, taking care of self, & taking care of things.
Order of the Cheetah
Mrs. Lily Cordeiro is being recognized this week with the Order Of The Cheetah. She is so welcoming, kind, and understanding; and she always encourages her students to do their best. Lily is a wonderful role model and a great team member!
Related Arts Is RAD
Hi everybody,
We hope you are all enjoying these 90 degree ”summer like” days, our first heat wave of the summer, in spring, and it's only mid May!
May was a very busy month for us in our PE classes!
Here are some of the highlights:
We finished our gymnastics and cargo net climbing units
Our school had the ACES all school walk
For a week of classes we played various colonial games to help celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary
And of course, planning for our end of the school year Fun Days, all completely supported by our families and friends who come help us set up and run each day to celebrate the end of the school year with a day of fun and games and play. The best way to end the school year!
Be on the lookout towards the end of the school year for a ParentSquare with details for our PE Summer Fitness Challenge (more to come with everything you will need to know to participate, it’s easy and fun!)!
Have a great last few weeks of the school year!
