Marlette Elementary School
August Update - August 19th, 2024
Note from the Principal - Mr. Reynolds
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. Staff at the school have been working really diligently to add new furniture, new curriculum, and clean the school for the students to arrive on August 26th at 8am.
The theme for this year is a "Commitment to Excellence" at Marlette Community Schools. We will be thriving in all areas to ask for and perform at our highest abilities at all times.
Just a reminder of some changes at the elementary:
- Mrs. Ruby Nothelle is our new elementary music teacher.
- Ms. Grace Cook will be teaching 2nd grade. Ms. Stockmeyer/Mrs. Fabbro will be missed and we appreciate her service to Marlette Schools.
- Ms. Fantin will be teaching 1st grade instead of 2nd.
- Mrs. Schmidt will be teaching Young 5's instead of Kindergarten.
- Ceci Chapin is the new transportation director for retired Kay Taylor.
- Mrs. Bell will be the new school administrative assistant/secretary for retired Mrs. Redman.
- Mrs. Megan Curtis is our second social worker at the elementary working with Ms. Katherine.
- Ms. Izabella McCanham, Mrs. Melissa Kelly, and Mrs. Holly Holbach will be new special education paraprofessionals.
- Mrs. Raven Wilbur will be serving as our recess/special education paraprofessional while still working at Red Raider Care.
Mr. Reynolds
Open House/Meeting the Teacher
The Marlette Community Schools Open House will be Wednesday, August 21st from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Families will have a chance to meet their teachers and bus drivers, see their classrooms, and interact with local businesses and school groups.
First Day of School
The First Day of School is on Monday, August 26th beginning at 8am. Reminder, the doors to the school will not open to parent drop-offs until 8am. Breakfast will be available to all students until 8:15am. After 8:15am, all students will need to be signed-in by a parent/guardian in the main office.
Bus Changes
Ms. Ceci is working on bus routes and communication of those bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times will be communicated by each bus driver or at Open House. We are currently short bus drivers, so there may be times this year that there will be a late route. Those changes will be communicated with affected families as much in advance as possible.
Teacher Assignments
Teacher assignments have been assigned to students in Skyward and a letter has been sent home to families. Request for changes after assignments will not be honored. The request period was open from April 15th to May 15th. Marlette Elementary staff spent hours fulfilling those requests while making balanced classes by academics and social-emotional needs.
Beginning of the Year Packets/Free Breakfast and Lunches
As always, please complete all of the forms in the Beginning of the Year packet and return them to school in a timely fashion. Like last year, breakfast and lunches will be free to all students. For funding purposes, please fill out the "Educational Benefits Form SY 2024-2025" to help with our school's reimbursement.
