A Message from the Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is proud to recognize and honor Women’s History Month. March is a time dedicated to celebrating the remarkable contributions of women throughout American history, recognizing their impact across all fields, including science, leadership, arts, education, and social progress. We acknowledge the trailblazers who have paved the way for future generations and celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women past and present. We celebrate the incredible women in the Upper Darby School District community—teachers, staff, students, and families—who inspire, lead, and make a meaningful impact every day. Their dedication, resilience, and contributions help shape a stronger, more inclusive environment for learning and growth. We honor their achievements and the vital role they play in our schools and beyond.
What are Monthly School Board of Directors' Updates?
As part of the Board of School Directors' communication plan, the School Board of Directors sends monthly updates to the school community. Monthly updates include highlights of school board of directors' community engagement and advocacy efforts, important dates, upcoming school district events, updates on any new policies or changes in policies, financial updates, and information on district resources. These updates aim to keep everyone informed and engaged with the school community. The information included in these briefs is not intended to be a complete recounting of Board meetings and do not replace official Board meeting minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Also, the Board meetings are live streamed to the District's Official UDSD Board & Board Committee Meetings YouTube Channel. We welcome you to follow the issues the School Board is considering and to attend meetings to stay informed. Thank you for taking the time each month to read the School Board of Directors' Updates!

Advocacy Corner
What is the Advocacy Corner?
The Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors believes that all students, regardless of background, economic should have a quality public education and an equal opportunity for success. The Advocacy Corner provides information and resources for parents/guardians with the goal of ensuring that every child has access to the resources and support they deserve through equitable public school funding. Upper Darby School District has historically faced state underfunding while seeing the cost of educating students in Pennsylvania's public schools increasing steadily and an increase in unfunded mandates.

Tell Congress: Don’t Defund Our Kids!
Tell your senator and representative to support public schools and students in the communities they represent and to oppose the creation of a new federal voucher program. In addition, urge them to use the power of Congress to reinstate employees at US Department of Education to ensure that Pennsylvania's students and communities will continue to have access to the funding and programs they depend on.

WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH HIGHLIGHT
This month we are excited to highlight Upper Darby School District’s Director of Communications, Ms. Aaronda Beauford. Aaronda has devoted over 30 years of her life to education, shaping the lives of countless students, teachers, and communities. A passionate advocate for learning, she has served in various roles across elementary, middle, and high school as a teacher, central office administrator, and School Principal from New Orleans to Wilmington to Chester to Philadelphia, always striving to create inclusive, engaging, and high-quality educational and community experiences.
Aaronda joined the Upper Darby School District almost 12 years ago as Principal of Stonehurst Hills Elementary School and transitioned to Director of Communications in 2019. In recent years, the school district has worked tirelessly to share our story—the story of the exceptional educational and social opportunities we provide for our students, the dedicated staff who devote their lives to public education, and the hardworking families who strive for their children's success. Her dedication goes beyond the typical work day—she believes in nurturing the positive growth of the Royals brand, fostering a love for our beautiful school district community, and empowering families to engage meaningfully with their school and school district.
Aaronda collaborates closely with the Board, the Superintendent, the Central Administrative Team, and Principals to maintain and enhance a strong, positive brand for the district. She works to ensure that messaging aligns with the district’s vision, values, and goals, fostering trust and engagement among students, families, staff, and the broader community. Through strategic communication efforts, she helps shape public perception, highlight successes, and reinforce the district’s commitment to excellence in education. Aaronda has helped solidify positive relationships with news media outlets, and now the Upper Darby School District is typically among the first Districts in the area to be contacted for a comment on topics related to public education. Whether it is in her role working on positive public relations; managing the District social media, website, mobile app, and public access channel; helping increase public participation at Committee and Board meetings; promoting parent and public engagement in district events and activities; or managing emergency communications, the District is fortunate to have Aaronda as a member of the team.
The Board of Directors extends a special thanks to Aaronda for her dedication behind the scenes. In the world of communications and public relations, the spotlight often shines on high-profile moments—press conferences, stakeholder engagement, crisis communication, and media interactions. However, the most influential PR work happens behind the scenes, where strategic communication and reputation management quietly strengthen and protect an organization’s image. We recognize and appreciate her hard work in these critical areas.
Aaronda credits her success to her amazing team. She and her close-knit team are amazing at what they do and enjoy their work. Their seamless collaboration and shared dedication makes every project beautiful and effective. Aaronda can take the slightest idea on what to add to the newsletter and turn it into the fantastic final product you all enjoy every month. She and her team produce all our public meetings, ensuring we are presented in the best light and capturing the experience for community members who cannot attend in person. Most importantly, everything she does, she does with the most welcoming energy and smile that even our shyest of guests who come to our meetings are made to feel at ease and welcomed due to her genuine heart, wanting everyone to be as comfortable as possible and to have their moment to shine! Aaronda, thank you for everything you have done and continue to do. We truly and deeply appreciate you!
Along with these work responsibilities, Aaronda and her husband of 25+ years, Grant, have two beautiful children, Gabriella (Gabby) and Gianna (GiGi), who are well on their way to being as successful in life as their two loving parents. Please join us in recognizing Ms. Beauford’s positive contributions to the Upper Darby School District.
