District EdTech News

The Board of Education voted to adopt the district’s new three-year technology plan at its January meeting. We are very grateful to have the support of our Board members as we look to expand our 1:1 initiative, integrate technologies across the curriculum, and provide professional learning and supports for teachers. We are also very grateful to the members of the district’s technology committee. Their ideas and feedback have been invaluable. Click here to read the plan.

If you would like further assistance with any of the information in this newsletter, please feel free to contact one of the Technology Content Coaches - Debbie Matchett or Ed Duclos. We look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

The EdTech Team

Password Management

Did you know that you can unlock or reset your own district password without IT's assistance? How? Simply enroll in the Password Management system.

Digital Resources for Substitutes

You can now make digital resources available to substitutes using the "O" Drive.

Within the “O” drive is a folder for each building. Each building’s respective faculty has rights to add, move and delete items from these folders. Substitutes will only be able to open and view items. They will not be able to change or save items into these folders.

CLICK HERE to view instructions on accessing and saving to the "O" drive.

Technology Service Desk

The NEW Technology Service Desk is up and running. You can access the direct link from the Staff webpage under Technology Support.

First time users will need to use the password "swindsor" rather than your network password. Once logged in, you can update your password. The service desk password is intentionally not linked to your network account so you may report an issue even if your account becomes locked or otherwise inaccessible.

Introducing: Google Drive File Stream

Google Drive File Stream is an application that allows you to access all of your Google Drive files from your computer without needing to open a web browser (Chrome/IE/etc).

With File Steam, your files are stored on the Google Drive but you can open and save them in the same way you do now with your "H" drive or any other shared folder. Using File Stream does not convert or change your files in any way; if you save a Word file it will remain in Word format.

Any items saved, deleted or moved within the "G" drive, will be reflected in your Google Drive.

CLICK HERE to view how to use Google File Stream.

Student Opportunity - "Doodle 4 Google"

Doodle 4 Google is an annual contest open to students in grades K-12. Students are invited to create and submit their own doodle. The theme this year is: What inspires me?

The winner’s artwork will be made into an interactive doodle on Google.com as well as the chance to win scholarships and tech packages for schools. Contest closes on March 2.
