CELC Weekly Updates

Happy Sunday CELC families! I hope you all enjoyed the sunshine this weekend. The teachers are looking forward to meeting with parents to share students' progress and report cards. As many of you have heard by now, Dr. Newman, the Superintendent, announced that the district will be moving into phase III of our reopening plan on Tuesday, January 19th. Students will begin coming to campus four days a week with Wednesdays being a distance learning day. As we begin to plan our transition, it is very important that parents contact the office if they plan to make a change to their student's current program/schedule. We will still continue to offer 100% distance learning along with the four day a week program. Please contact the office ONLY if you want to make a CHANGE. For more information, please click on the link below to read the communication that went out on Thursday, November 12th.

Please review the updates and reminders below to help keep you informed about what is happening on campus and in the district:

  • Parent Teacher Conferences are this week! Don't forget that students will be getting out of school at an earlier time than usual. See the schedule below.
  • Exciting news...CELC's classrooms are getting air filtration systems installed this week.
  • AUSD is offering times to preview the proposed AUSD science curriculum adoption for TK-8th grade. Please see the flyer below.
  • If you are interested in purchasing something from the CELC Wish List, please visit https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3SFKL6ROWON5R?ref_=wl_share.
  • Child Nutrition Services began offering snack pick up for students at CELC during pick up times. Hybrid A parents picked up snacks on Monday, and Hybrid B parents picked up snacks on Thursday. The grab and go snack bags contained 5 days worth of snacks. This will continue to be available to all students 18 and under. See flyer below for more information. We will not be serving snack the week of our fall break.
  • Please report all absences to the office. We are required to trace all absences. Illnesses may require a 10-14 day stay at home. All students that are out for any reason will be temporarily assigned to distance learning. They can receive credit for their time off campus if they complete work online.
  • This week is Rainbow Week. Kindergarteners will be doing rainbow themed activities and reviewing all of the colors.
  • Every Monday is College Spirit Day. Wear your favorite college shirt!
  • This week is Kindness Week. Help us spread kindness at school and in our community!
  • Join us for VIRTUAL FUN FRIDAYS. This Friday, November 20th, is "We Dream of Kindness Day". Wear your PJs to school. Share a picture on social media using #virtualfunfriday or #kindnessweek
  • The district continues to serve food during Hybrid Learning on Mondays from 11:00am to 12:30pm at JMMS. This week, there will also be a pick up from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. There will be no food distribution during the week of Thanksgiving break.
  • The district is still providing free wifi access at CELC, SHES, JMMS, and BOES. Just park in the lot and log in. The wifi name is AlpineUnited and no password is needed.
  • The district has tech support available to parents. Please email helpdesk@alpineschools.net with your technology questions.
  • Picture Day has been scheduled! See flyer below.
  • EAK registration is open! We still have a few spots available. Please help spread the word!

We are looking forward to a fun and colorful week. Don’t forget to wear college gear tomorrow! I am still looking for some new pictures of families and staff in their favorite college shirt. I plan to wear my college shirt on Monday, my rainbow shirt on Wednesday, and my PJs on Friday. I just have to figure out by outfit for Tuesday and Thursday :). Since it is also kindness week, maybe I'll wear one of my kindness shirts.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ripke

Federal Impact Aid

Each year schools are required to complete and submit information to determine how much Federal Impact Aid funding they will receive. The amount of Federal Impact Aid Alpine Union receives is determined by the actual number of our students whose parents are employed by the Federal Government, are active military, or are living or working on property owned by the Federal Government or living or working on property owned by a Native American Tribal Government. To qualify for funding, we need a completed survey form for every student attending our District. Please take a moment to complete the survey by December 1, 2020.

Parent/Teacher Conference Week Schedule

It's Parent/Teacher Conference Week! All start times and gates for entry/exit remain the same. Please make note of the early release times below. As always, for everyone’s safety, please do not enter the campus early. As a reminder, families must practice social distancing and wear masks. Please drop off/pick up quickly and leave campus. We have had to remind a few adults multiple times to stay off the lunch tables. We apologize for our constant reminders but PLEASE follow the rules for the safety of our campus, so we can remain open and allow parents to help with drop off and pick up. Thank you to the mass majority who are supporting our policies and procedures. As a reminder, please let your emergency contacts know the procedures if you are utilizing them to pick up your student. Thank you for your support. It will become even more important when we begin Phase III of our reopening plan on Tuesday, January 19th.
