Bulldog Families,

Well, we’ve officially reached that point in Oklahoma summer where 90-degree weather starts sounding refreshing. When the forecast says, “Only 94° today,” we all collectively say, “Ahhh… a cold front!”

As we continue through these warm August days, I want to highlight a few things happening around Memorial.

📸 School Pictures Are Wednesday!

School pictures for grades 9–11 will take place this Wednesday, August 26. Students will have their pictures taken during the school day, so please remind your student to look their very best! And by “very best,” I mean whatever version of “very best” a teenager is willing to agree to before 8:00 a.m.

🏃‍♀️🏈 Fall Sports Are Here!

All of our fall sports are officially up and running, and it has been exciting to see our Bulldogs back in action! Cross Country will compete in its first meet this weekend at Deer Creek, kicking off what we hope will be another fantastic fall season.

And speaking of fall sports… Friday Night Lights are almost here! Our first home football game is next Friday, August 28, and we are excited to welcome our Bulldog community back to the stadium. Please see the special information below for all the details as we get ready for our first home football Friday of the year!

🌡️ What in the World Is a “Wet Bulb”?

If you've been around a school this summer, you may have heard the phrase “wet bulb temperature” tossed around. No, it is not a new kind of light bulb that someone accidentally left outside in the rain.

The wet bulb temperature is a way of measuring how hot it actually feels when humidity is taken into account. It helps us determine whether conditions are safe for students and athletes to be outside. In other words, the thermometer might say one thing, but the wet bulb says, “Yeah… you probably don't want to be running sprints right now.”

We use wet bulb temperature guidelines to help determine when outdoor activities can safely take place, particularly during these extremely hot Oklahoma days. Safety always comes first, even if our Bulldogs would rather be outside than trapped inside with the adults reminding them to drink water.

Thank you for your continued support of our students, teachers, coaches, and entire school community. We are looking forward to a wonderful fall filled with competition, performances, traditions, and plenty of opportunities for our students to Believe, Belong, Sacrifice to Build a Legacy.

And if you see us outside this week, please remember, we are not sweating… we are simply participating in Oklahoma's advanced hydration program.

Have a great week, Bulldogs!

🚨 Schedule Tweak Warning! 🚨

August 26th is officially the LAST DAY for schedule tweaks of any kind. After that, the schedule is going into witness protection! So, if your student needs an adjustment, please get it taken care of by August 26th. After that date, we’re all going to lovingly accept the schedules we have and move forward!

📈 Tracking Student Growth in English & Math

At Edmond Memorial, we use a universal screener called STAR to help us better understand each student’s current skills and identify areas where additional support or enrichment may be helpful. All students in 9th and 10th grade will complete STAR screenings in both English and Math. Following the initial screening, students will use their results during Advisory to work in FRECKLE, an adaptive learning program that provides students with personalized practice based on their individual skill levels. FRECKLE adjusts to each student’s needs, allowing students to strengthen skills they have already learned while also providing opportunities to work on areas where they need additional growth.

Students will complete STAR again in the winter and spring, allowing us to monitor their progress and celebrate their growth throughout the school year. Parents will receive their student’s screening information by email during the second week of September. Please watch for an email from noreply@educlimber.com so you have a better understanding of your student’s starting point and can follow along with their academic growth throughout the year.

Friday, August 28th!!! Friday, August 28th!!!

This next Friday night, August 28th, we welcome Piedmont to Edmond Memorial for our first home football game of the season. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. We would love to see our stands packed with Bulldog families, students, and fans as we come together to cheer on our team and celebrate the beginning of another great season.

With big crowds comes big responsibility, and I want to assure you that the safety of our students, families, and guests remains our top priority. Police officers, hired security personnel, and administrators will be on duty throughout the evening to help ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. We also ask for your help by keeping several important reminders in mind.

Our Clear Bag Policy will be in effect. Small clutches and diaper bags are permitted. Elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by an adult for the entire game, and middle school students must also have their school ID with them. Edmond Memorial students should enter through the student entrance near the Dog House and must present their actual student ID and ticket for admission.

Please remember that athletic equipment may not be brought into the stadium, and students will not be permitted on the field area, including the south end zone. Remember, EPS uses digital ticketing for games, and tickets can be purchased through GoFan by Clicking Here…

Most importantly, let’s come together as a Bulldog family, fill the stands, bring the noise, and support our students. There is something special about Friday nights under the lights, and I hope you will join us next week as we begin another exciting football season at Memorial.

Athletic Season Passes Athletic Season Passes

As we begin the new year, we want to let you know that Edmond Public Schools has transitioned to GoFan as our new online ticketing platform. We are excited about this change and believe it will provide a much simpler and more convenient experience for purchasing tickets and athletic passes throughout the year.

To purchase tickets and athletic passes:

Important: If you are purchasing an EPS Student All-Sports Pass, you will enter the student's EPS Student ID number in the field labeled "Access Code."

Important Admission Information

Beginning this school year, all Edmond Public Schools athletic facilities will be cashless. Cash will NOT be accepted at the gate. Admission must be purchased online through GoFan prior to or upon arrival at the event.

To help make the transition as smooth as possible, I have attached two documents that walk you through the purchasing process and answer common questions.

We can't wait to welcome everyone back to Bulldog Stadium, the gym, and all of our athletic venues this year. Thank you for your continued support of Edmond Memorial Athletics. We look forward to seeing you at our events and cheering on our Bulldogs!

Go Dogs!
