Memorial Update

Good Morning Memorial Families,

So excited to get a Patriot win last night! I do wish that we could have had one of the earlier games, but the win made it worth staying up late for.

We have been really fortunate to have not had any big snowstorms yet this year that have interrupted school. I wanted to remind everyone of a few items regarding weather, delays, cancellations, and recess.

Delays: If school is delayed, there is no before school programming either here or at the United Parish. Students can begin arriving at 10:45am on a 2 hour delay day, and we do not serve breakfast on those days as we jump pretty quickly into our lunch periods once students arrive.

Cancellations: Dr. Cohen sends delay and cancel information via email, phone, and text messaging. You also will find cancellations announced through local news stations and on social media.

Recess in the Winter: We send students outside on days when the "feels like" temperature is twenty or above. We have had a rough go of this so far this year, as December was brutally cold and windy! Hopefully the weather will continue to trend on the warmer side. If there is snow on the ground, students may play in the snow during recess so long as they have snowpants, boots, a coat, and preferably gloves/mittens and a hat. Most families just send it in a reusable tote bag and students change in and out before/after recess. If your child struggles getting into and out of snow gear on their own, this is a great thing to practice at home. Many kids try to put their boots on first, and then qickly realize that the snow pants should have been first.
