Principal's Message Principal's Message

Greetings, Hiteon Community,

Last week’s parent-teacher conferences were a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate student growth, and partner together in support of each child’s learning journey. Thank you to all the families who took the time to meet with our teachers. These conversations play a vital role in strengthening the home-school connection and supporting student success.

As we look ahead, some exciting events still bring our Hiteon community together in fun and meaningful ways. Our much-anticipated Fun Run is just around the corner—a favorite event where students, staff, and families join in a high-energy celebration of movement, school spirit, and teamwork. Not long after, we’ll gather again for Field Day, a time-honored tradition full of games, laughter, and outdoor fun.

None of these events would be possible without the incredible dedication of our Parent Teacher Club (PTC) and our amazing volunteers. Whether organizing events, setting up activities, or cheering on students, our PTC and volunteers go above and beyond to make Hiteon a vibrant, welcoming place. Their hard work behind the scenes brings joy and memorable experiences to our students, and we are so grateful.

Thank you to everyone who continues to help make Hiteon Elementary such a special school community. Your time, energy, and heart make all the difference!

📝 2025 - 2026 Parent Input Form📝 📝 2025 - 2026 Parent Input Form📝

Deadline: Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

2025-2026 Parent Feedback Form

The placement of children in classrooms for the next school year is a decision of great importance. We invite you to participate in this process. Your child's present teacher(s) have current information and insight about the conditions under which your child learns best. Classroom Teachers, Specialists, and our Administrative Team meet to place students for the following year. As we work together to organize the new classes, we use many factors to create optimal class groups.

Class groups are balanced by gender as well as the strengths and needs of students. Additionally, teachers balance classes by Special Education needs, English as a Second Language needs, and academic needs. Teachers also look at the behavioral needs of students. With all of this considered, we also attempt to balance class groups by size whenever possible.

Please fill out the Parent Input Form if you would like to provide feedback on this process. The information will be shared with your child's current teacher. Parent input and information are only one factor and does not guarantee placement with a specific teacher. Please do not request a specific teacher. A great deal of time and effort goes into this process, and each child is individually considered and placed. Your input will be paired with input provided by your child's current teacher(s) when building balanced classes for the 2025-2026 school year.

In completing this form, please describe the kind of classroom environment in which your child functions best. This is crucial due to the unknowns that also enter the student placement process, such as
1) Reassignment of teachers within the building due to enrollment changes or teachers' wishes,
2) Teachers transferring to other Beaverton schools due to overstaffing or teacher requests, and
3) Staffing changes due to teacher moves or hiring!

Our goal for every child is to place them in a classroom where they can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.

We encourage you to complete the form if you have information that would help us in your child's placement. The form is due back by Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Regards, Janet Maza (Principal) and Jenny Read-Emslie (Assistant Principal)

2025-2026 School Supply Kit Ordering is Open 2025-2026 School Supply Kit Ordering is Open

Can you please set up a ParentSquare blast to announce supply kits. Today would be great if possible, otherwise Monday would work too. Thank you

As the school is winding down it's time to start thinking about next year! One simple step you can do to prepare for next year is to order your student's supplies now, and the best part is, they will be waiting in your child's classroom on the night of Meet your Teacher in August.

The kits contain all the items needed for your student for next year (with one small exception for Kindergarten) Full itemized lists will be posted to the Hiteon website soon.

Volunteer Background Check System Volunteer Background Check System

open_in_new zoom_out_map

If you haven’t done so already, please reapply to be a volunteer in the Beaverton School District. We’re implementing a new volunteer management system over the summer and need time to process and complete the criminal background checks for all applicants.

Start on the Volunteer webpage on the district website. The entire process — including the review of the Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct training materials — should take less than 10 minutes to complete.

Thank you for prioritizing our students’ safety and for your willingness to volunteer in BSD.

Beaverton Safe Routes to School Parent Surveys Beaverton Safe Routes to School Parent Surveys

It’s data collection time again for Beaverton’s Safe Routes to School program. The purpose of this program is to make walking and biking to school safe, convenient, and fun.

Parents’ and guardians’ input into how students travel to and from schools and their impression of the safety of the route is valuable as the city and county prioritize needed improvements for our roads.

The following links will take you to a district survey and will be combined with classroom tallies to give us a good picture of how students get to and from schools throughout the district.

The district survey will be open for responses for approximately four weeks from May 1st until May 31st. We appreciate your assistance providing us information to make the Safe Routes to School program effective for all Beaverton School District students.
