🌟 Spartan Spotlight Awards
This year we launched our first-ever Spartan Spotlight Awards to recognize students for outstanding character and leadership. These awards connect directly to the Emergent Tree values and social-emotional learning competencies.
- Focus: Self-Management
- Core Values: Responsible, Safe
- The Focused Finisher Award honors students who stay resilient and committed during a busy season. These Spartans remain focused on their goals, show self-control, and stay organized even under pressure.
We are proud to begin this new tradition of honoring Spartans who truly live out our values and set an example for their peers.
Rembrandt's Core Values: Safe, Respectful, and Responsible
🌱 What is Emergent Tree?
Our school uses the Emergent Tree framework to build a positive and supportive school culture. This approach helps students learn and practice the core values of being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe. These values guide student behavior, decision-making, and relationships across campus.
By consistently reinforcing these expectations, we create an environment where all Spartans can thrive academically and socially.
Why This Matters: Understanding the Seriousness of "Pantsing"
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We would like to make you aware of a behavior that has appeared in some schools and youth settings called “pantsing.” Pantsing refers to pulling down another student’s pants, usually as a prank, without their consent. While some students may see this as a joke, it is important to understand that this behavior is not harmless and is taken seriously at school.
Why Pantsing Is a Serious Issue
-
Violation of personal boundaries: Pantsing invades a student’s personal space and privacy.
-
Emotional impact: The targeted student may feel embarrassed, anxious, or unsafe at school.
-
Potential for bullying: Pantsing can quickly become a form of harassment or humiliation, especially if others witness it or share it online.
-
Physical risk: The act can cause someone to trip, fall, or be injured.
-
Disciplinary consequences: Because pantsing involves non-consensual touching and can be classified as harassment, it may result in disciplinary action according to school policy.
How Families Can Help
-
Please talk with your child about respecting others’ personal boundaries.
-
Reinforce that “jokes” that embarrass or harm others are not acceptable.
-
Encourage your child to speak with a trusted adult if they experience or witness this behavior.
Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful environment where all students feel comfortable and supported. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Thank you for your partnership.
