EHS PARENT STEPS IN WITH BIG UPGRADE FOR CULINARY STUDENTS
Major upgrade!
A special thanks to Lowe's Home Improvement Parker Store Manager Jonathon Glassburn for making a significant donation to Elizabeth High School Consumer Sciences/Culinary Arts Program.
Jonathon's daughter is a freshman at EHS and told him at home one day that the high school could really use an upgrade with the appliances that the students use in class. One of the ovens was broken and his daughter said, 'Daddy, you really need to help them out.'
Jonathon sprang into action, first getting in touch with the EHS teachers to identify their needs. Then he took it upon himself to visit the school to take measurements. At Lowe's, the company does a lot for the community and Jonathan says that every quarter, he's given a budget that he can use for community donations. First and foremost, he got approval for the addition of four brand new ovens for the classroom. Three were delivered immediately and a fourth is set to arrive this week. He's also working to find two dishwashers and three to four microwaves to donate to the school and hoping that a new fridge will come along as well for the Special Education employee breakroom (it has seen better days).
Jonathon not only has a daughter at EHS, but also lives in Elbert County and employees many from the area. He immediately felt a calling to pitch in and help any way he could.
"It feels awesome," Jonathon says. "There's nothing better than to be able to make a situation better and more usable whether it's in the education field or for Veterans. You can't replace that feeling because you are ultimately changing lives and helping people gain access to things they otherwise would not have."
COMMUNITY PITCHES IN TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO EHS BASEBALL FIELD
Baseball field improvements! EHS Head Varsity Baseball Coach Ryan Robinson reflects on a recent community project where volunteers came together, combining talents and skills to improve the ball field. Robinson added the following:
"I am so proud to be surrounded by great people within this community who support our baseball program and are willing to volunteer their time for a better place and experience for the players.
Our main project was the expansion of our concession stand and press box. We were able to double in size our press box and concession stand as well as make some much needed enhancements to it. I want to extend a huge THANK YOU to Adam Dome for leading the project, spending a lot of this time designing it, building it, wiring it, and securing donations from companies to make this possible.
Here is a list of some additional projects we were able to complete this pre-season;
- Finish painting the dugouts, clubhouse, and concession stand as they all match and look amazing.
- We fixed our "Turtle" (batting cage for the field) so it can be used easily now.
- Brought in additional infield dirt to level it out as well as top dressing our grass infield to provide levelness and stability.
- We were able to paint trash cans with baseball designs to bring a better touch to our facilities.
- We were able to clean trash, remove old landscaping barriers, and improve the look of the area.
- And many, many, more from the efforts of our volunteers !"
SPRING IS HERE AND SO IS BASEBALL!
Ready for baseball!
"Recently, we ran a Cardinals Baseball Youth Camp. The camp was for players in grades pre-K to 8th grade. We had a great turnout with over 100 campers attending from the community. Our high school players were the coaches for the day. Even though the weather had us in the gym at the last minute, we were able to utilize all parts of it to have an effective camp. It was such a great experience for both the campers and our high school players and coaches.
Some highlights and excitement for me to see as the Head Coach of our program were;
- Campers and our High School Players having lunch together
The amount of high fives, good jobs, and incredible interactions between the campers and players.
- The players voting on their camper of the day and the campers voting on their coach of the day.
- The amount of campers who attended
- I even saw autographs being signed
- A great environment of learning around hitting, catching, throwing, and baserunning.
I am super proud of our players, coaches, and all of our future Cardinals baseball players in our community. I want to extend some thank yous that made this day a success. Thank you to our Baseball Booster Club for the many hours of planning work, our partner baseball clubs in the community, our coaches and players, and everyone in the community for the continued support."

INDEPENDENT CLASSICAL ACADEMY COMING TO ESD IN THE FALL 2025
THERE IS A NEW CLASSICAL CHARTER SCHOOL COMING TO ELIZABETH THIS
FALL!
Independence Classical Academy (ICA), a new elementary classical charter school, is coming to Elizabeth in August 2025.
What sets Independence Classical Academy (ICA) apart from the other schools in the area is that it offers a classical education, which is grounded in the belief that education should cultivate wisdom as well as virtue.
Grammar, logic, and rhetoric provide the foundational framework through which students acquire knowledge, develop critical thinking, and master oral and written communication skills. In addition to providing intellectual rigor, foundation stones (virtues) are taught that instill a sense of moral responsibility. Through the Core Knowledge Curriculum which includes history, literature, science and art, students are reconnected with the wisdom of the past, preparing them to engage meaningfully with the challenges of the present, envision a better future, and develop a capacity to know the good, the true, and the beautiful.
With regards to location, for the first year (2025-2026), the plan is to hold classes in the Frontier School building on Banner Street in the town of Elizabeth while the new building is being built. Then, for the second year (2026-2027), the plan is to move into the new school building which will be located near the corner of CR 158 and Delbert Road in the new Independence Neighborhood. For students living in-district, busing will be provided by the Elizabeth School District starting in the fall of 2025 and will continue after the move into the new building.
