Sentinel Snapshot
November 7, 2025

Admin Corner
We had our Veterans Day assembly today, which was hosted by our JROTC program (you can see them seated in the front row of the photo) and I was so incredibly proud of their work. It was a beautiful event that highlighted the sacrifices that impact soldiers and their families. Our band and choir performed the Armed Forces Medley, which is maybe my favorite single element of any assembly all year long, and we had two poignant speeches given by community members who deserve special recognition here for sharing their story with our students. A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Lisa Hallett (CEO wear blue: run to remember) and MSG Jordan Hamilton. Finally, on behalf of the entire staff here at SHS, I'd like to acknowledge and appreciate our military families. Your service makes our country stronger and better. Happy Veterans Day.
It's a great day to be a Sentinel. - Jake

Resources Including Free and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits for Families Affected by the Government Shutdown
Due to the federal government shutdown, households of furloughed employees may be eligible for free or reduced-price meal benefits. A furlough is a unique situation where households may not have information on the duration of the furlough or the ultimate impact on the household income. While free or reduced-price meal eligibility is intended to reflect actual annual income, applications may reflect the current household situation. Families whose household income has been impacted by the government shutdown are encouraged to apply for free/reduced-price meal benefits for their student(s). Information on completing the application form can be found on the district's website here. Should the economic hardship due to the furlough be remedied, families whose applications were approved should terminate or update their free/reduced price status. Please reach out to studentnutrition@steilacoom.k12.wa.us if you have questions or need additional assistance

Please also feel free to visit the district's website which shares additional community resources for food, clothing, health care, mental & behavioral health, as well as other resources.
Steilacoom High School is kicking off our annual Food Drive, and we invite all students and families to join us in supporting local families in need. Every donation big or small helps strengthen our community and reminds us of the power of giving. Let’s come together as Sentinels and make this year’s Food Drive our most impactful yet!
