Staff Spotlight

Gena Richey, Campus Media Specialist

What is your full name?

Gena Richey

Where are you from?

Boulder, Colorado

What was your middle school's mascot?

Pirates

What college did you attend?

MSU Denver

Why did you become a teacher?

After spending time as an organizational trainer for a bank, I wanted to do something that would still incorporate teaching, but make more of a difference.

What did you want to be in middle school? Why?

I wanted to be a either a veterinarian because of my love for animals or a criminal profiler because I love psychology and crime shows.

What is your best middle school memory?

Spending time with my friends at the new movie theater that opened up in our town.

What do you love about your students? Why?

They each have their own unique personality and perspective. I love being able to have conversations with them to understand their thoughts on life and the world around them. They are eager to share their opinions!

If you can make a change in the world, what would it be? Why?

I would give everyone the ability to make decisions from a place of understanding instead of a place of fear.

Jean's Pass - 7th grade

At Writing and Math Bear Camp, 7th graders had the opportunity to earn jean's passes. If your student has a jeans pass, they

1. can choose a day to wear jeans and a uniform shirt;

2. bring the jean's pass to the front office (filled out with their name and the date); and

3. the front office will give them a sticker that says they are in dress code.
