Tigers Wear Orange on October 21 for Unity Day! (tomorrow)
Orange you glad it’s almost Unity Day? Unity Day is our chance to stand together as a district and spread kindness!
Here’s how WCHE Tigers can show their spirit on Wednesday, October 21:
WEAR ORANGE: Rock your brightest orange outfit to school to show we stand for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion!
SPREAD THE WORD: Talk with your friends, family, and classmates about what unity means to you.
SIGN THE POSTER: Stop by the Unity poster during lunch to add your name and take the pledge!
Let’s turn WCHE into a sea of orange and show everyone what Tiger kindness is all about!
SCHOOL-WIDE REWARDS EARNED SO FAR!
Sunglasses & Tiger Trot Shirt - FRIDAY!
Hat Day - TUESDAY!
Picnic Lunch Outside - WEDNESDAY!
Pajamas and Stuffy Day- THURSDAY!
Movie at Lunch - THURSDAY!
Tonight's Challenge - Highest Increase in Donations!
TIGER TROT COLOR RUN - FRIDAY!
WHAT TO WEAR
Comfortable, older clothes that can get colorful! Anything worn should be Color Run friendly—please leave new or special items at home.
We’ll provide Tiger Trot shirts to put on over students’ clothes, so an older, lightweight shirt underneath is a great choice.
We’ll also provide Color Run sunglasses for students to wear!
Students may wear a hat during the race.
Closed-toe shoes are required. Older sneakers are perfect!
*Siblings will not be able to leave their class to attend their sibling's color run. They get to enjoy their own!*
A FEW REMINDERS
Students are welcome to bring a towel for personal use. Families coming to cheer should stay in the designated parent viewing area; only assigned volunteers will be allowed on the field. Volunteers will need to check in at the front office with valid ID and then report to the Volunteer Staging Area.
We can’t wait to celebrate our Tigers and all we’ve accomplished together!

Tiger Thyme!
WCHE Tiger Kindergarten has been taking advantage of this lovely weather by spending time in Tulley's Garden.
Mrs. Wade's class went on a fun garden scavenger hunt. They practiced identifying the beginning sounds of words and counting the number of things that they found on their hunt.
Mrs. Eilers' class used their five senses to explore the garden, and they practiced making tally marks for each thing seen, smelled, heard, touched, and tasted.
What great days of learning!

WCHE to Conduct a Lockdown Drill November 3 @ 9 am
Dear West Cypress Hills Elementary School Parents and Guardians,
A critical component of school safety is the classroom response to an incident on campus. The Standard Response Protocol, or SRP, is a proven method of creating shared language and actions among students, staff, and first responders during a school emergency. Since its adoption in August 2019, students across our district have received an introduction and overview of the SRP including classroom practices and drills.
Our staff and students will take part in a lockdown drill on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at approximately 9:00 am. As a result, parents, students, and visitors to our school may see law enforcement officers, safety vehicles and/or other emergency responders onsite during this time. Once the drill has been initiated, teachers will immediately suspend all instruction, and students will receive further directions from their teachers regarding the drill.
Once the drill has been completed, all instruction will resume as scheduled. The drill is scheduled to occur at approximately 9:00 in the morning and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Our teachers and students have been advised of the drill and are prepared to participate.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support during this time. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
