Cup o' Coffee... Special Edition..
October is a busy month w/ opportunities to SHOW support and create Community. We welcome students and families to join together to show support with two great events...
- WEAR PINK on Wednesdays to show support for the fight against Breast Cancer.
- Unity Day, October 16… supports National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month by focusing on a spirit of kindness, acceptance and inclusion. For Wildwood Middle, our Best Buddies Team is calling on us all to show support by WEARING ORANGE on October 16 to highlight further our kind, considerate words and actions that foster community at Wildwood Middle. : Check out their video above in the Cup o' Coffee talk!
Last year we officially became a Unified Champion School. To be eligible, a school must have incorporated, and/or have plans for each of the three UCS components (Inclusive Youth Leadership, Whole School Engagement, Unified Sports & Activities). To expand our program, this year students from general & special education advisories meet the last Friday of every month to participate in a sport together. Our first event, balloon volleyball, was a HUGE success.

Book Fair Fun!!!
Dear Families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair has come to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: October 10-18, Both night of Conferences and ONLINE!
Location: Wildwood Library
Students can also browse and purchase before school!
There’s even more info on our school’s Book Fair homepage: bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/wildwoodmiddleschool1
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called Share the Fair™. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books from the Fair.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever.
Happy reading,
Dr. L

Rockwood High School Football Games...IMPORTANT NEWS
August 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This year, to improve safety and security, we implemented a new practice for our home football games. That practice requires students in middle school and younger to be accompanied by a parent in order to enter the stadium for varsity football games. Our goal is to create a safe and enjoyable event for everyone attending the game.
Students are expected to demonstrate appropriate behavior while attending these events. To maintain an appropriate and sportsmanlike fan atmosphere, please adhere to the following guidelines:
A parent or guardian must accompany all elementary and middle school students attending athletic events. Supervisors at the main entrance will monitor the students entering the games. This measure is intended to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, as well as to promote a respectful and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone in attendance. Elementary and middle school students who arrive unaccompanied by a parent/guardian will be turned away at the gate regardless of whether they’ve purchased a ticket. Parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring child behavior at all times for the duration of the game.
No outside food or drink of any kind will be permitted inside athletic events.
No backpacks or large purses will be permitted inside the stadium. Students will be directed to return their bags to their parent’s vehicle. (Small purses may be permitted but are subject to administrative search.)
No pets are allowed in the stadium.
No re-entry is permitted once an individual exits the stadium during an event.
At the end of the game, all spectators MUST exit immediately and report to their modes of transportation. No loitering in the parking lot or stadium is permitted.
Thank you for your understanding and collaboration in this matter. Together, let's uphold the camaraderie, sportsmanship and pride that characterize our school community. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.

ParentSquare: Rockwood uses ParentSquare for district and school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified. By default, if parents don’t access their account, they will receive a daily digest of messages from the school and district via email each evening. Click here for more information about ParentSquare.
