Team Members of the Month - February, 2025
Congratulations to February's Team Members of the Month.
We want to thank these students for their positive contributions to our school community and for making our school the best place it can be!
Ambassador Club - "Anything But A Backpack" Day Update
Thanks to all who participated in our "Anything But a Backpack" Day and donated to our collection to support the "Heroes in Transition" foundation which provides assistance to veterans, active service members, and their families.
Through your kindness and generosity the HMS Ambassador Club was able to raise over $1,700, and our students had fun being creative in how to carry their belongings with "anything but a backpack".
Course Selection and Scheduling Notes
As a reminder, the portal for students and families to review recommendations and make elective requests will be open from March 12 until March 17.
The steps to complete this process are outlined in the attached presentation, but should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Many useful resources can also be found on the HMS website. By clicking on "MENU" at the top of the main page, you will be able to find "Scheduling Resources" under the "Students and Families" heading.
If you wish to request a Recommendation Override, you can do so by completing the form found here. This form must be submitted by April 11.
Reminders for Grade Eight Students and Families
As a reminder, the window to make course requests for next year at Hingham High School is now open!
- Deadline Extended: Eighth-grade students should enter their course request choices in the Aspen X2 portal from March 12 - 21.
- On March 24, HHS counselors will be at HMS and meet with each eighth grader individually to go over their choices and answer any questions they may have.
On the high school counseling website (scroll to the Course selection bar at the bottom of the page) we have a wealth of helpful information including yesterday's presentation, the High School Program of Studies Night Presentation, a schedule worksheet with all 9th grade elective options, and much much more.
All the best,
Heather Rodriguez, Director of School Counseling

What's New With the Barracudas???
Recently, the Barracuda science classes ended their Matter Cycling and Photosynthesis unit by creating posters to demonstrate the relationship between how plants and animals interact with each other to keep life going on Earth . . .
. . . While in English classes, the Barracudas spent the week collaborating to create their own talk shows, featuring interviews with characters from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. They also created advertisements for some of Tom's favorite things!
It's Good To Be "Out Of The Loop"!
As a reminder, our bus loop needs to be kept clear of all vehicles during arrivals and dismissals.
Students getting a ride home should meet their rides on the sidewalk nearest the main parking lot.
See the photo below for reference.
Thank you!
Unified Basketball
HMS Unified won their program opener 34-32 against Hull earlier this week. Jonah Hobson scored 4 3-pointers, lofting one up from just about half court.
We are so proud of our athletes and peers!
Next game is at home on March 18 at 3:45.

HMS wants to send a huge "thank you" to Officer Ford, Opry, and our newly appointed School Resource Officer, Officer Sullivan. While Officer Sullivan won't "officially" join HMS until the fall, he was at our grade six social getting a first-hand experience of life in the middle school.
Welcome aboard, Officer Sullivan!
