Safety Drills

Last week, we successfully completed our law enforcement drill with our School Resource Officer and our fire drill with the Naperville Fire Department. We evacuated the building in three and a half minutes! I am so proud of everyone for following their teacher's directions and practicing our safety drills.

CogAT Updates

Beginning this school year, we are streamlining the assessment information used to support student recommendations for district programming. As part of this work, the Cognitive Abilities Assessment will no longer be administered universally to 5th grade students. This does not impact CogAT testing in 2nd grade, where it will continue to be administered to all students. This change reflects our ongoing effort to limit the collection of redundant information when meaningful data is already available through classroom assessments and i-Ready. Additionally, reducing unnecessary testing minimizes classroom disruptions and preserves valuable instructional time. Our philosophy and criteria for identifying and supporting students in district programs, like Project Arrow and Accelerated Math, have not changed. School teams will continue to use multiple sources of student data to make thoughtful placement and programming recommendations for students.

Elementary Early Release Days

The district's first elementary early release day is Thursday, September 24th. Students will be dismissed at 1:00pm. We will follow our regular dismissal procedures. Please let your child's teacher know if there will be a change to your child's regular dismissal plan for that day.

Adjusted lunch schedules as follows:

10:40-11:15 5th Grade Recess and Lunch

11:20-11:55 1st and 3rd Grade Recess and Lunch

11:45-12:20 2nd Grade Recess and Lunch

12:10-12:45 Kindergarten and 4th Grade Recess and Lunch

Early Dismissal and/or Late Arrival Procedures

If you are aware of an upcoming early dismissal for your student, please email your child's classroom teacher directly and let them know the date/time of the schedule change. The classroom teacher will alert the office of the dismissal so they can add the student to their daily list.
