COINS FOR SANTA FUNDRAISER
Student Council will be doing a fundraiser to raise money to put towards Kids In Need's Christmas presents. There will be jars with five teachers' faces on them in the office on December 18th and 19th. These five teachers have agreed that the teacher with the highest total of money will wear a Santa Clause costume on Wednesday December 20th. We ask that kids bring change and dollar bills to put into these jars.
THE CATCH: Coins added to a jar will add to the teachers total, whereas paper bills added to a jar will deduct from the total of that teacher. Make sure you bring your money!

HEALTHY DEVICES MAKE FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE
Take care of your MacBook during the winter season! Leaving your MacBook in the car overnight can harm its battery. Cold temperatures can decrease the battery life by more than 50% because it permanently damages the charging cells. Here are some other tips to keep your device in good shape all year:
- Protect your screen: Avoid putting papers or other items between the screen and the keyboard. While it might be convenient, your computer isn't a folder, and this can damage your screen.
- Transport your device closed and without accessories attached: When you carry the device by the screen with the keyboard hanging, it damages the hinges and leaves the device vulnerable to impacts. If you leave accessories like the charger or a flash drive plugged in, it damages the ports which means they may stop working.
Restart your computer regularly: To keep your MacBook running smoothly, restart it from time to time. This helps stop background programs, which can slow down your computer and drain the battery.
Charge your device at home: Charging your MacBook at home saves you time and money. Your battery should last around 15-20 hours on one charge, as long as you don't have too many programs running or it froze int he car 🙂. Plus, charging at home helps prevent the need to replace a charger that has been "permanently borrowed," which can cost $50!
Check the handbook for other possible fees you might be responsible for.
- Stay updated with Mosyle: Mosyle Updates come through as banners on your device and allow you to control when software updates happen on your computer. This way, your computer won't shut down unexpectedly for an update -you can choose a time that works for you.
It's always frustrating when your tools stop working, so make these tips a regular practice. Both you and your computer will be happier for it!
