Digital Balance Think Tank - Survey Reminder
We are pleased to announce the launch of the LMTSD Digital Balance Think Tank. This initiative will create a comprehensive K–12 Digital Balance Plan to ensure technology remains a healthy, engaging, and supportive tool in our students' education.
Our team brings together teachers, administrators, counselors, and instructional coaches from across the district. Because an impactful plan requires authentic stakeholder perspectives, we will gather feedback from students, staff, and families throughout this process. To help guide our work, please take a few moments to complete our parent/guardian feedback survey.
Our goal is to grow our positive learning environment that prioritizes student well-being, directly aligning with the Safety and Wellness priority of our LMTSD 2024-29 Strategic Plan.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts as we build a balanced digital future for our schools.

Exciting Update from the District Calendar Committee!
The District Calendar Committee is hard at work evaluating options to shape the schedules for the 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 school years! Our core purpose is to design a dynamic, forward-looking calendar that maximizes student learning and enhances daily teaching, while fully supporting the diverse needs of our school community. The district calendar plays a huge role in teaching and learning! A thoughtfully structured schedule ensures our educators have the optimal instructional time and professional development opportunities they need, which directly drives student growth and success.
Our Goal for Recommendation: Our goal is to propose the new two-year calendar to the Board of School Directors in the late winter or early spring. To ensure this process truly reflects our district's diverse needs, our committee is made up of parents, staff, board members, and other stakeholders. Engaging our community directly supports our Strategic Plan's core value of Community, allowing us to grow together and support each other through collaboration.
We Want to Hear From You! While the committee is hard at work, we are actively seeking feedback from the broader school community. We want to gather your thoughts on what you like about our current calendar and what is working well for you, as well as any potential adjustments or new things you would like to see captured moving forward.
Your input is incredibly valuable to us as we shape the schedule for the upcoming school years! Please take a few moments to complete the survey below and share your perspective:

National Principals Month
October is National Principals Month, and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing principals who lead our schools. Their dedication, passion, and commitment shape the educational experiences of our students and foster positive school cultures.
Every day, our principals inspire teachers, staff, and students to strive for their best. They navigate challenges with grace and create environments where every student can thrive. This month, join us in recognizing and thanking these remarkable leaders.
Free & Reduced School Meals Grace Period Ends Oct. 14
As we settle into the rhythm of the new school year, we want to share an important reminder regarding our Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program.
Each fall, federal guidelines allow a temporary 30-day "grace period" that carries over the meal status your child had at the end of the previous school year. That grace period will officially end on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
To ensure your child's meal benefits continue without interruption, a new household application must be submitted and processed before October 14.
Why Reapplying Matters
If a new application is not processed by October 14, 2026, your child’s status will automatically revert to paid/full-price. Any meal purchases made after October 14 will accrue charges that families will be responsible for paying.
Who Needs to Apply?
Previous Participants: Even if you were approved last year, you must reapply every school year.
New Families & Kindergarteners: If you have added a student (like a kindergatener) or moved to the district, ensure all household children are listed on one form.
Directly Certified Families: If you received a official letter from the district this fall stating that your child is automatically approved through programs like SNAP or TANF, you do not need to complete a new application.
How to Apply Before October 14
Only one application is needed per household, regardless of how many children attend our schools. Online (Fastest): Visit SchoolCafe to complete the secure digital form. Applications submitted online are processed within 24–48 hours. Paper applications are available by request from the school office.
Applications are strictly confidential, and state guidelines protect household privacy. If your income or household size changes at any time during the year, you can always apply or reapply.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep all our students healthy, fed, and ready to learn!
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and resilient digital environment, Lower Moreland Township School District is observing Cybersecurity Awareness Month throughout October.
Digital safety is a shared responsibility across our entire school community. Throughout the month, staff will engage with focused resources and best practices designed to reinforce digital security both in and out of the classroom.
Our weekly awareness focus areas include:
- Account Security & Multi-Factor Authentication
- Phishing & Email Safety
- Physical & Device Security
- Best Practices & Digital Citizenship
We encourage families to use this month as an opportunity to review digital safety habits at home as well!
