Fri 13th March

Friday 13th March
A note from Mrs Fitzsimons
Happy Friday,
We celebrated with lots of our pupils today as they told us of all their achievements outside of school. It is great to see even our youngest children stand up in front of the whole school and tell them, loudly and clearly, about what they have been doing. A great skill to have.
P2 have been enjoying a beautiful sunny day at Carrickfergus Castle, fighting dragons and rescuing damsels in distress.
P7 have been working today with Sharon Jess from the High School, Ballynahinch. Our P7 pupils worked conscientiously on this project when they were in P6.
The workshop was based on the now published book "Magical Mount Panther". It incorporated reading activities in keeping with the National Year of Reading.
Remember we are off for St Patrick's Day on Tuesday.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs F
P7 authors
Exciting news! Our P7s are now the proud co-authors of a new book, ‘Magical Mount Panther’. Last year, in P6, they worked with Mrs Jess from the High School, Ballynahinch, along with other schools in the area to write the book. This is a very exclusive book, not available in shops, however they all got to take home a copy today. Another fantastic way to celebrate 2026- The Year of Reading!
St Patrick's Day, Tues 17th March- School Closed
Mrs McAlinden (Anne) is retiring😪
Our caretaker, Anne, is retiring at Easter after working with us for years. Anne has been an essential part of our team who has ensured the building is always clean and safe for us all. She will really be missed and we will find it hard to replace her but we are excited for her as she enters this new, more relaxed, phase of her life. We are going to do a farewell assembly On Thurs 26th March. If you would like to contribute to a gift for her from parent and pupils, please send it in an envelope to Joy by Fri 20th March.
YE-HA! Coming to a theatre near you Mon 23rd - Tues 24th March
We have tickets left for all 3 shows. If you wish to purchase any more please send money into school next week. Mark on the envelope the name of your child and how many tickets you require (remember you must book a ticket for any younger siblings who will take up a seat, but don't need to pay for it).
Write down which show you want tickets for: Mon 23rd 1:00, Mon 23rd 7:00 or Tues 24th 7:00.
There will be cast photos to purchase/order at the shows, £5 each.
P5-P7 pupils will be given the option to come to school a little later on Tues 24th due to the performances. They just need to be in school by 10:30. Of course, if this doesn't suit parents, then they can come in at normal time. Things are getting very exciting in school and I have been told we are all in for a treat.
Reading Challenge
We hope you are enjoying our Reading Challenge and are managing to fill up those squares. Remember the challenge runs until after the Easter holidays so you have plenty of time. There will be a certificate and small prize for everyone who completes this. Remember this the purpose of the challenge is to support parents and children to nurture simple reading habits.
