🐾 Welcoming Our Future Panthers: 6th Grade Parent Night at JCMS
Tuesday, April 14, 2026 - 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Jennings County Middle School is excited to open our doors to incoming families for 6th Grade Parent Night on Tuesday, April 14th from 7:00–8:00 PM. We’ve intentionally scheduled this event after Math Bowl at NVE to make the evening as convenient as possible—one trip, big impact for our families.
This night is all about helping students feel confident stepping into middle school while giving families a clear look at the opportunities, support systems, and experiences that make JCMS special.
🎒 What Families Can Expect
During the evening, families will be able to move freely between sessions that highlight key areas of the JCMS experience, including:
- JCMS Administration
- Meet the 7th Grade Teams: Echo & Summit
- Middle School Transition & Emotional Wellness
- Athletics & Extracurricular Opportunities
Students will also have the chance to practice lockers, explore the building, and connect with teachers and staff—a huge step in easing those first-day nerves and building excitement for the year ahead.
🍔 Come Hungry & Support a Great Cause
One of the best parts of the evening? The food! We’re thrilled to welcome several local vendors who will be on-site serving up great options for families:
- Chick-fil-A Mobile Truck (4:30–7:30 PM)
- Donut NV (5:00–8:00 PM)
- Chugg Soda Shop (5:00–8:00 PM)
Families are encouraged to come early, grab dinner or a treat, and enjoy the atmosphere together.
Even better—a portion of proceeds from vendor sales will support our JCMS Student Fund. This fund directly benefits students by helping provide incentives, celebrations, and opportunities that enhance the middle school experience for all. So when you grab a sandwich, donut, or drink, you’re not just feeding your family—you’re investing in our students.
🌟 Building Confidence, Connection, and Panther Pride
6th Grade Parent Night is more than just an informational event—it’s the first step in helping students feel connected, supported, and ready to thrive. At JCMS, we take pride in building relationships and creating a school environment where every student feels they belong.
We’re excited to welcome our future Panthers and their families into our building. It’s going to be a great night—and an even better start to the journey ahead. 🐾
ILEARN Testing Begins This Month!
📣 ILEARN Testing Begins This Month – Let’s Show What We Know!
This month, Jennings County Middle School will begin ILEARN testing for Math and English-Language Arts. This important assessment gives our students the opportunity to show just how much they’ve learned and grown this school year. From daily lessons and assignments to group projects, classroom discussions, quizzes, tests, and our three Checkpoint assessments—our students and staff have been working hard and putting in the effort every step of the way.
As we enter testing season, it’s more important than ever for students to be present and on time for school each day. Attendance plays a big role in student success, especially during testing. When making appointments or other plans, please do your best to avoid scheduling during our testing dates so that students can complete their ILEARN tests on their scheduled days, with as little disruption as possible.
We will begin testing on Tuesday, April 22nd and finish on May 1st. Below is our testing schedule:
- Tuesday, April 21st, 2026 and Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, Thursday, April 23rd, 2026:
- CAT Testing: Math
- Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, and Thursday, April 30th, 2026
- CAT Testing: English-Language Arts
- Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 and Wednesday, May 6th, 2026
- PT Testing: English-Language Arts
💪 A Message to Our Students:
You’ve got this! All of your hard work is about to pay off. This is your chance to show what you know and how much you’ve grown—not just as students, but as problem-solvers, critical thinkers, and resilient learners. Believe in yourself, take your time, and do your best.
The staff of JCMS are rooting for you to do your best!
Let’s finish strong, Panthers! 🐾✨
Use your passing period time wisely!
JCMS Builders Club will be hosting Ripples of Change on Friday, April 17. This will be an afterschool pool party at JCMS. Tickets will be $5 each and will be presale only. All money raised from ticket sales will go to Advocates for Children in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Advocates for Children serves children who have experienced abuse and neglect and focuses on giving those children the opportunity to thrive. Come join us in going poolside for prevention!
🐾 Save the Date: 8th Grade Celebration - May 1st, 2026 🐾
On Friday, May 1st, JCMS will be celebrating the 8th grade class with an event called 8th Grade Glow Night! This will be a casual, memorable event for our 8th graders!
The event will take place this Friday, May 1st starting at 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Students should be picked up promptly at 8:00 PM. There will be pizza, desserts, and the concession stand will also be open for purchases. There will be games, dancing, a photo booth, and lots of other memory-building experiences with classmates. Students are encouraged to wear neon colors or something that will glow under a blacklight. Just remember that the school dress code still applies!
Come and enjoy the fun!
