MAP/EOC Testing
South Middle Students will begin their MAP testing during the week of May 5. Monday through Thursday of that week we will test from 7:35 am to 9:30 am. After testing on those days we will run the same bell schedule that we use for late starts which impacts normal lunch times. On Friday we will return to our normal bell schedule, but our Algebra students will take their End of Course Exam during a two hour block that starts during their regular scheduled Algebra time.
End of Semester Tests, Finals, and Alternate Assessments
At SMS all classes have some type of end of the semester assessment. Some classes utilize a test while others may utilize an alternate form of assessment. Our finals window opens on May 19th and students will have assessments throughout the week. On Friday, May 23, all SMS students will test from 7:35 am to 8:35 am. After 8:35 am, each grade level will have different end of year activities for their students. Our SMS students will still attend their elective and PE classes on the last day of school.
End of Year Activities for 8th Graders
In the Wentzville School District 8th grade students do not graduate from the middle school level. However we have many planned activities to celebrate our 8th graders. More specifics will be emailed to 8th grade families, but please note the following.
May 9th--- 8th grade semi formal dance 7:00-9:00 p.m. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and parents can attend until 7:15 p.m. to take pictures. Tickets go on sale the week of May 5th.
May 16th--- Six Flags Field Trip
May 23rd--- Finals 7:35 am, 8th grade iHop breakfast 8:30 am, THS transition walk at 10:15 a.m. and parents are invited, last day of school.
Attention Current 7th Grade Families
Did you know 8th graders in the Wentzville School District can participate in MSHSAA sponsored activities? We offer cross country, track and field, girls and boys basketball, cheerleading, and dance. Information will shared in the morning announcements and in summer newsletters about anticipated tryout dates. All student athletes need a MSHSAA physical on file in the school office to tryout. Many families like to schedule these appointments for the summer time so please use this link for the correct form.
WSD Calendar Change
The last day of school for all Wentzville Schools is now on Friday, May 23rd. The last day of school is an early release day and SMS will release at 12:20 p.m.
