Welcome Message Letter from our Principal Welcome Message Letter from our Principal

Dear GIVE West Students and Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! On behalf of the entire GIVE West staff, I am excited to welcome both our returning students and those joining our school community for the first time. We hope you have enjoyed a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer.

As we prepare for a new school year, we are looking forward to partnering with you to ensure every student has a successful and meaningful educational experience. At GIVE West, we remain committed to creating a school environment that is safe, supportive, and focused on helping every student reach their full potential.

Dress Code Reminder
Please take time to review the 2026-27 GIVE West Student Dress Code. To ensure a positive and consistent learning environment, the dress code will be fully enforced beginning on the first day of school. Your support in helping students arrive dressed appropriately for school each day is greatly appreciated.

Our Focus for the Year

At GIVE West, our priorities continue to be:

  1. Safety and Security

  2. Excellence in Teaching and Learning

These priorities guide our daily work and our commitment to providing students with the best possible educational experience.

Our school theme for the 2026–2027 school year is "Hope Is a Discipline." Throughout the year, we will encourage our students to understand that hope is more than wishful thinking—it is the intentional choice to persevere, grow, and believe in what is possible even when challenges arise. We look forward to embracing this theme together as a school community.

We are excited about the opportunities this year will bring and look forward to working alongside our students and families. Thank you for your partnership, trust, and support. Together, we will make the 2026–2027 school year one of growth, achievement, and success.

We can't wait to welcome our students back!

Warm regards,

Kelly Walter
Principal, GIVE West

The Importance of a Healthy Self-Awareness

Having a healthy self-awareness promotes emotional wellness and self-esteem. Self-Awareness helps students understand, reflect, and practice self-control. It provides students insight into who they are, and why they react as they do, and gives them a direction for self-improvement. Self-awareness for students is crucial for success. Self-aware people have a fundamental belief in their ability to achieve a goal, and this trait helps students thrive in everything they do. Teenagers could reflect and improve emotions through (1) Reflective journaling, (2) Positive awareness - have students write a list of things they like about themselves, (3) Establish and work towards goals and (4) Help students to identify their strengths. The act of identifying things that your students are good at reinforces a positive self-image. Working to improve their strengths builds confidence, setting them up for success.
